You can open that with a pair of long nose pliers (open of course, instert and twist).

Can I still fit the repair kit even if the motor ain't broken ie the casing to strengthen the roof motor . I took of the screw plate in the pic with the nose pliers but I'm left with the part that the arm sits on does that come off too ? Because the repair plate has also got the same piece welded on it I'm so totally confused

The repair plate fits over the round motor bit that is shown in your picture. Post a pic so that I can understand what you mean, please.
Once the plate is fitted, some of the screws actually screw into the motor underneath it, securing it in place.

Why are you fitting a new plate? I thought your motors stopped working due to water?

I was advised that the motor had some play in it and it was better to fit the plate to avoid it cracking .

Your new plate (as shown in my pic) has the screw in section that you originally asked about removing. This therefore means the old one (shown in your pic) has to be removed. As its not actually broken...
The typical failure is that this section breaks, hence the need for the fixing plate. If the motor underneath is loose, or there is play in it, can be tightened through the boot
Access to it, rather than fitting the plate, which
From what I can see will not fit.

Finally got the roof working going up n down next problem I now face is that the horseshoe opens fine and when the hood is going in the compartment it does not seem to fit in the compartment the roof in places is hitting my rear headrests where previously with my old roof it used to go in no problem at all and also the hood is not locking down it tries but does not lock with the roof in the compartment

Did you need to use the repair plate you were trying to fit....?
Have you had a new roof - I mean a brand new roof? If so, your folding problem could be due to the straps being old, therefore not folding the roof properly. Does the roof fold the right way too? A know problem is the front roof bar fold folding outwards instead of inwards (the correct way)
The horseshoe not locking is an adjustment to one of the long lowering arms. I would also check that nothing is bent on the smaller arms that sit against the back wall of the roof compartment.

Also bret I noticed that bar wasn't right either and there is a like a metal rod which goes across the roof with a hook type shape on it is that normal ?
