Hi Guys

I was after a bit of advice on fixing a problem i may have created. I was mucking around on the weekend trying to fit a gong from an E32 into my E30 (don't ask), and discovered that the gong worked initially, but when reassembling everything the Tacho and econometer weren't working and the display on the OBC was not showing any info. The backlight is working, it gives a nice warm orange glow, but doesn't show any info. Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Matt

Check fuses 10, 12 and 21 carefully. (A soft blown fuse can be difficult to see), and if these are OK, find the plug and socket with the poor connection that you've disturbed.

Thanks Brian,

I will take a close look tonight and let you know.

Cheers

Hi,

I have the problem above. It's not the fuses, any other ideas?

OBC plugs not in properly at the OBC end (green) or cluster end (yellow), or quite simply the OBC is knackered.

No, checked both plugs & they're in properly. Both the Obc & tacho went at the same time & the speedo went a bit wonky today dropping down to zero & back again. Changed the SI board because the mpg gauge stopped working but it didn't sort it. Was just wondering if there was a simple solution. Thinking it must be a problem with the cluster so will try that next.

The OBC gets all its signals, except the external temperature, from the cluster. Does this register on the display at all?
If not, then the OBC has probably lost one of the power rails from the cluster. Are you sure your replacement SI board was good? Did you check the battery voltages before fitting it?

Yeah I checked both boards. Both were lithium boards & were 3v.

Would this cause the tacho to go at the same time?
