Need more information to form a diagnosis i.e. Does it happen only when there is a full moon?

Happy to help.

As the other guys have said, more info will help people diagnose with you :)

318i, 318is, 320i, 325i, etc etc?

Where's the sound coming from?

Any morsel of detail you provide will be useful

I apologise for the zone comedians, but we really do need more info, such as model, age, and some idea of the location of the noise before we can start to make suggestions.

lol!
Am kinda new to this stuff. Its a 318I cab j reg 1992. It only makes the sound when am driving, not when stood still. sound goes when i turn slightly of center or press the breaks.

Thats about all the info i got right now.

Could be a wheel bearing but that sound is more of a moan than a howl.

It's a cab, the hood or windows maybe?

Run through this checklist:

Take it for a short drive, and try to determine if the sound is front or rear. Come home. Park.

First off, place your hands on each of the wheels. Does when feel significantly hotter? If so, you've got a braking issue.

From there, Use your jack and lift each wheel off the ground in turn. Give it a good shake both left to right and top to bottom. Have you got a noticeable wobble? If so, suspect a wheel bearing.

Sounds like wheel bearings to me ... have the same problem with my cab.
Gonna change the fronts at the weekend, weather permitting.

Jacking locations on an E30, many people get this wrong when using a trolley jack:

1982 E21 316 Baltic Blau
1989 318i 2 Door Sterling Silber
