riiigggghhttt today i drove to scotland in the beemer (5 hour drive), started it up, a load of steam came out of the exhaust then after 10 minutes or so it stops, then once i pull up at scotland and leave the engine running for 5 minutes its starts steaming again (just a little bit). topped up the coolant before i left and it doesnt look as if its moved (if it is using coolant it must be using hardly any)
understand the m20 does steam quite a bit in this weather becuase of the high quality metal used in the exhaust, but it just seams weird how it started steaming again once i arrived??
any help much apreciated!
weird steaming exhaust??

Just the effect of being in the arse end of the union. So cold up there that the car can't maintain the exhaust system temperature at idle, so the steam produced by burning petrol starts condensing in the system or at the tail pipe again.
