I think the question is are all the manual propshafts the same or is it different for a 2.5 and a 1.6?

Original i assume is the one that comes with a m40b16 engine (manual) and the replacement is a manual 325i box

If you are using a 325i Getrang 'box, then you will need the matching propshaft.Rventura wrote:yes it's that..Quaser wrote:Original i assume is the one that comes with a m40b16 engine (manual) and the replacement is a manual 325i box
M40 type Getrang 240 will not fit the M20 engine(sits at the wrong angle)
M20 type Getrang 240(ex 320i)will fit and be fine, with this 'box you will need a 320i prop.
320i 'box is shorter than 325i 'box, hence the need to match prop to box.
I use a 320i Getrang 240 with my 2.7,it's run for about 7 years now with no problems,I'm also using the original 320i clutch, now on about 170k miles, with no problems.

I do love the way you consistently call "Getrag" "Getrang" daimlerman
