If i ever have the chance i would love to do the rear axle as well but i think i need a bit of help on that one.

Cheers
If you can do what you've done so far the rear end will be no problem!

I'm doing pretty much what you're doing but I started with the underside (luckily not had any big body repairs like yours though), will be pretty much the same time frame as well if mine is done for the summer 8) :D

Thanks for that, I'm thinking I might have ordered 61121380484, will have to check when I get home tomorrow!
My pleasure! You allready installed the heating in the seats?

I tell you what I really like from your project/car was the bottletop wheels 8)
Yeah it's cool isn't it. I really like these kind of accessorie stuff. Also found a brand new genuine boot-tidy for the left side of the trunk (right next to the jack) . Never knew they excisted. Partnr: 82129413029

Very comfortable for your dog or cat on holiday.

I allready got in contact. That guy has got some great stuff for sale. Fantastic site! Wouldn't know where else to get those decals. Will order them soon. Many thanks!

My e30 is the same model in the same colour, only difference is mine is a four door and will look like shit compared to yours.

Keep up the good work.
Thanks, I'm sure if you give it a good polish it won't be that bad. Mine still hase some dents and things on the hood and right side door and the right fender needs to be replaced. I know somebody with a 4 door eta which is in a way better condition then mine. It is still 100% factory original and completely untouched wich is a rare exception. Here is my car next to his. 2 Low revving lazy asses.

Right.. thought i'd do a little update as i'm coming to the UK next tuesday :D

A good 7500kms during summertime since the head got rebuild and she's doing great! What a difference that has made in driveability so worth the effort big time! The idle problems i had after first start were quickly fixed with a good valve adjustment.

And with that all done it's again back to usual.. buying stuff for the options list :D

First took her for a shower though..
Image

Very happy with the M-Tech spings btw.
Image

Image

Image

Under the hood it's lookin much better now.
Image

Image

Still have to install those fantastic decals i got from Pukar (thanks mate) but the sun is long gone and the car is now garaged for winter.
Image

Some other small jobs i did after rebuild:
- Fresh diff-oil.
- Fresh Gastrol GTX 15-W40 engine oil.
- New right end piece rear bumper.
- New plastic airvents under windscreen.
- New Hella crank sensor.
- New original hood emblem.
- New left door stop.
- New rubber boot for the fuel filler cap.

Also cleaned the area where that weird fuel expansion tank lives in the wheelarch. Need to weld some new brackets in the future.

The accessories i managed to get hold off.

Got very lucky and happy with this one from German Ebay for just 170 euros considering i've seen them go for dubble that second hand. It's a brandnew electric sunvisor for the rear window.
Image

Unfortunately, all partnumbers shown for these rare items are not recognised by realoem.com nor at the BMW dealers!
Image

Image

Problem beeing there's supposed to be a wireloom and a switch to go with it but not even BMW themselves know which one. Have to still figure that out as the installation manual doesn't give any info on this at all. It just shows how to install it and not the partnumbers involved.
I could improvise something but wonder how the factory installed it when somebody ticked the box to have one installed in their e30 from new.
Image

Another thing nobody knows anything about. Not even bloody google! Ultrasonic alarm system UA 202/ZV
Image

It needs an installation kit to be installed. Again.. not even BMW know the partnumbers or my local dealer parts supplier just needs a good solid punch in the face.
Image

Image

In search of this strange mounting kit i stumbled upon this system on Ebay UK which is specially for the e30 so i think i'm gonna go with this one. Not that i expect any of this stuff preventing my e30 from getting nicked but as an OEM freak it's nice to have things original and genuine BMW!
Image

Another thing i was very happy with finding. As mentioned on the previous page it's a boot tidy for the left side of the trunk. 82129413029.
Image

Just because i like to carry alot. Of Ebay UK and although non-original it does come in handy. The middle section is reserved for a tool-box that will be useful unlike the bootlid thing.
Image

Didn't expect it to be so huge though. It's massive!
Image

I'm gonna mount it to the backpanel in the trunk using the velcro and the shoelaces that are attached to the back of it.
Image

For some extra insurance when hitting the brakepedal i'm srewing the backpanel to the metalwork where the central locking bootlid motor lives and then mount the thing to the panel using the plastic screws that are normally used to mount the sound deadening to the underside of the bonnet on eta's, 320is's and M3's. I'm hoping a total of 6 will be enough to stop a few kilo's coming thru the rear seat whilst BMW is using 16 to hold some featherweight sound deadening to the bonnet :D
Image

And i also ran into a set of seatbelt adjusters. Never knew the existed for an e30.

Al this lot wil get bolted when the sun's out in a few months time :D

You spotted pretty much the only option left  except maybe carpetted front speaker panels which i forgot.

Little to no upsides for me there, to expensive and not really needed this part of the world for at least 7 months a year. Sure it's handy in slow traffic during a heatwave but having an arm out at any speed works for me and pop out rear windows will surely help the airflow. A great excuse to get them :D

Me to, its a great unit, best ive ever owned! One downside, it doesnt like writable audio cds. It will play them but with slight destortion getting worse as you scroll down the playlist it wont even finish.. Still having doubts about installing an e36 Business that doesn't seem to have that problem but its expensive and not nearly as cool as the CD2.

Another thing thats on my mind is using a converter like a Kicker KISL to take the audio signal (+/-) from the speaker wires coming from the original blaupunkt amp and convert them (front & rear) into RCA to power all speakers from a hidden aftermarket amp with some proper power and sound quality cause the blaupunkt walkman thing sounds a bit harsh as its made for old Nokias and not modern Pioneers. A small active sub like a Pioneer TS-WX206 can be added also to really finish it off but would only be usefull i quess when theres an armrest in the rear seat. With this setup you can keep the original radio and keep everything stock looking and still have some quality sound. The only giveaway would be opening the bootlid.

Thanks you!

I will defenitly do that once installed. Problem is i still need to find a wireloom to connect it to. Switch for the visor is i believe a window switch. Maybe the loom for an auto sunroof will work as its basically doing the same thing?

Here some other info i found. Not the same visor as mine as i got the more modern shave-mechanism but its the only info i could find on this rare e30 visor thing. Its German and according to one of the reply's there should be an original wireloom for it.

Yes the boottidy is for the left side where the jack sits. Not installed it yet as i need a left boot panel which i took out when installing the sound system amp few years ago. It should be somewhere but i just cant find it anymore :?.

The carpeted front speaker panels were only used on E30's up to september '85 when the E30 received a few changes at which time also the 325i replaced the 323i.

Decided to reload all the 425 pictures in the thread thanks to imageshack deleting half of them as you need to pay for that these days. Bunch of bloody moneygrabbers! Took me ages.
Hopefully photobucket is less greedy cause i'm not gonna do it again!

Finally had some time to finish the trunk :D

And off course with the winter knocking on the door its a smal efford to do some rust prevention.

Took EVERYTHING out..

Only surface rust which cleaned up easily. This is what happens when you forget wet sponges en towels and leave them to dry in the trunk.

Time for waxoil :D

Lots of grease where the trunklight rubbers sit.
Image

Before waxoiling i drilled a hole which i made squar to secure the back panel with a plastic nut.
Image

To mount this thing. A non original boot-tidy :D
Image

Secured with some bonnet clips to.
Image

The right side of the trunk allready has the original boot-tidy for the warning triangle and first aid kit which is mounted with this lot.
Image

Image

Installed this to :D
Image

The stuff i like to cary around  From torquewrench to feelergauge, multimeter, reserve fluids, greases, jumpercables, cleaning stuff and even a genuine foldable bucket from BMW. Still searching for the perfect toolbox for the mid-section of the boottidy.
Image

A hydraulic jack to replace the rubbish standard one that ruines the edge of the sill and if youre not careful put a dent in the body metalwork to.
Image

Can't find this boottidy anymore but another 'improved' version is so far still available:

Yes me to, only at the rear underside this time where it slowly starts to need some TLC to. Problem is as always.. money & your own garage with lift. If you have those 2 nothing can stop you as you can take as long as you want to do the job.. something i still dream about :D

Thats what i thought! Stumbled on the blind which was for sale with a starting bid of 1 euro and no reserve. Went to work after a maximum offer expecting it to go into the hundreds but came back only to find out i won it at a bargain 140 quid :D Unused and new in box. Pure luck and i say bargain of the century!

Sometimes they do pop up here and there but the price is ridiculous. Not to long ago the same one as mine (shavemechanism) was for sale somewhere for 900 Euros secondhand! The other version (rising stick in the middle) is still for sale for months allready and is a littlebit cheaper.. or should i say less expensive.
http://www.ebay.de/itm/BMW-E30-Elektris ... 1e7f62fedd

The phone is completely useless because it works on the D-net which is no longer in use and can also be very expensive.

Finally got some time to install the sunblind :)

Not to long ago there was another one for sale which did had the kabel in the advert for me to take a peek. Not even BMW could help me because they never knew they made them, apparently.

Dealer couldn't help me, 2 mails to BMW factory headquarters in Germany went unanswered. Same goes for BMW classic which is the restoration department next to factory. No respons at all!

Anyway, this is a picture of the wireloom i needed that goes with a electric sunblind. Snatched the picture from a seller on ebay who had a complete set for sale at 900 Euro's.
Image

So a sunroof wireloom was chosen as it also has a windowswitch and coincidently a connector that fits the blind.
Image

Some minor modifications required. The relay was cut out as it is not needed. Power and ground was taken from the cigarette lighter as per manual just like the original wireloom.
Image

Tested the whole thing”¦ It’s ALIIIIIVE :)
