Engine pick up not very smooth

Hey guys I'm new to this forum, sorry if this has been answered elsewhere.. I picked up an 89 320i a week ago and by the time I had driven home I could tell it wasn't running quite right, when accelerating it feels as if it's holding back and not smoth atall it seems to do it more when cold, every now and then it runs perfectly and picks up fine. The fuel pump died 2 days later and I've replaced the fuel pump and still the same, maybe slightly better but still not great! It also smells like it's running rich and I'm only getting 20-25 mpg, and when driving slowly it can be very jerky under 2000 rpm! Has any one else had any anything like this? Could it just be a sensor? Any help would be much appreciated
I'm also looking for some black leather seats, m tech side skirts and m tech rear bumper if any ones got anythig knocking about!?

First port of call is to check the blue temperature sensor:

Also check all the hoses and trunking around the throttle body and intake for any splits.
