Hi,

I am placing an order for common nuts and bolts that are used on the E30. Seeing as some have been a royal PITA to remove as they had been some what rusty I am replacing any that get taken off with new.

So far I have got the following list, is there any other commonly used sizes that are worth getting:

M6, m8, M10, M12 hex nuts
M8, M10, M12 nylock hex nuts
M6, M8, M10 washers, crush washers

Any others that would be useful?

I'm sure Mr Moore will be able to help.

I'd be interested in building up some spare nuts and bolts Russ, to help in managing my fleet. Any chance of adding to your order or getting the details so I can place my own order ?

Just using a local hardware shop in Ayr, they stock pretty much everything and can purchase in multiples of 10. Most sizes are 10 for £1 as well which is a bonus.

Be aware that some bolts have differing thread pitch, diff mounting bolts for example are M12 1.25 pitch, your local hardware store's offering will be 1.5 pitch thread.(think I have that the right way round!)
Caliper mounting bolts are another with this issue.
These oddball one's are,of course, available from your local friendly stealer.

I tend to automaticaly replace things like ARB mounting bolts and similar with stainless steel nuts and bolts, then they will come undone next time!

Diff bolts are M12x1.5 and a standard M12 is 1.75, so you were close :) M10 standard thread is 1.5. But as said got to be sometimes careful on thread pitch, that's when bolts cross thread and turns into a ball ache.

We keep a hell of a lot of nuts and bolts in stock at work and its awesome, especially on the late nights.

I'f persobally just get a selection of M6, M8, M10 and M12 nuts/bolts/washers. Certainly very handy.

Arb nuts are my nemises at the moment. Trying to get the drop links off the bar is proving some what difficult.

Assuming that you are fitting new drop links, then Mr Angle Grinder is your friend!

At the front, the U bracket has a splined stud that passes through the bracket and the wishbone, this usually breaks for me,it is just about possible to replace the stud with a bolt, but it may need it's head trimming to allow the drop link to fit properly.New U brackets are not expensive, but it's usually the last job late on Sunday night!

Yep new drop links and bushes. Typical that my angle grinder packed in as well.

Fortunatly the wishbone bolt \ nuts came off no problem.

Colin I assume you mean fairy liquid for doing the bushes?
