I'm planning on pulling my intake manifold (m20) within the next couple of days, looks fairly straight forward perhaps a little awkward... anybody got any tips/tricks for getting it off?

cheers

Its quite straight forward. The only tips I can give are to use 3/8 inch drive sockets to get better access to the rear nuts and do not forget to remove the metal breather pipe from between the manifold and the crankcase. When you put the manifold back on, it is a bit awkward to line it up with the studs. Compress the spring on the breather pipe with a couple of small cable ties and install the pipe with two new O-rings, into the crankcase before installing the manifold.

I was going to do mine the other day but was a bit unsure so I just did the rocker cover (replacing them with painted ones).

When you put it back on don't forget to put the front nut on - the one thats hidden by the water outlet - unlike the dopey to**er of a mechanic who rebuilt the engine that's in my wife's 325 touring about two years ago.
The manifold gasket lasts about eighteen months in this condition.
