Just out of curiosity, how much would it cost to get some one to supply and fit a suede roof lining

Between £300 and £450 at places like B-Trim or most convertible hood specialists do this kind of work also.
It won't be suede though, it'll be Alcantara.

Look at Capri_rob's tourer thread. I'm sure he had his head lining retrimmed for a lot less than mentioned.

Retrieved?
I'm sure theres places that can do it cheaper but from what I've seen, £300 id the entry point for quality.
You may save some cash if you deliver the car with the old lining stripped and all glass out.
But to strip an old lining out, create a pattern for the lining in new material and fit, then refit glass etc etc is a fair amount of work.

Nope mine wasnt cheap - can't remember the exact figure but including the repair to the seat I had done at the same time I think it was around £400 - mine is high quality black suede with a thick foam backing.kitch wrote:Look at Capri_rob's tourer thread. Sure it was suede and not alcantara?capri_rob wrote:Nope mine wasnt cheap - can't remember the exact figure but including the repair to the seat I had done at the same time I think it was around £400 - mine is high quality black suede with a thick foam backing.kitch wrote:Look at Capri_rob's tourer thread. Most trimmers HATE working with suede as it a pig to work and keep clean after.
Alcantara is pretty much identical and comes in any colour - like the E30 anthracite (not black) and is much stretchier so you get perfect fits on contoured / tricky areas.

It may be Alcantara Ratch you might be right - it was one of the best quality cloths they did anyway

Suede is a leather. I'd very much doubt you would get a calf skin to cover a headlining in one piece without a seam. Chances are its Alcantara (synthetic). Still looks nice though

Significant difference between a touring's headliner and a saloon.
Touring uses an inverted tray,as can be seen in Rob's piccie, saloon uses a conventional lining held by hoops.

Looks like you sent them your 1-piece roof lining and they returned it covered up?
A 2-door 'floating' lining with sunroof is much more work - £300 as an entry price sound about right.

Correct - it took the guy most of a day to completely remove all traces of the old foam lining and glue before the re-trimming could even start.
A lot of work and not cheap but so worth it - one of my favourite improvements I have made to the car.
