Hi

I know this should fit up to the M30B35 from an e34 lump ok, but can i still use my e30 m20b25 output flange, gear linkage and prop ?

Just wondering if the gearbox is very similar ?

also, does the M30 have the engine/gearbox spacer plate like the M42 does ?

i need a full set of engine to gearbox bolts and flywheel bolts if anyone has anything spare ?

thanks v much

jim

With regards to gearbox to engine bolts, I didn't have any with my engine and box when I bought it so I just bought new from BMW, wasn't that expensive iirc.

Also not sure what the m42 spacer is like, but the e34 m30 engine bolts straight to the bellhousing of an e34 manual box with no spacer, hope that helps mate.

As for the e28 box, I would have though they would have the same dimensions, but not sure, hopefully someone will be able to confirm soon

I am using a e28 528 gearbox and did not need to change anything on mine. Even gear linkage fitted perfect.

Long story mate, took it apart, couldn't get it back together properly so,took it to a specialist who said there is a bit missing and I can't find it anywhere. Lesson learned mate, bit unhappy about it to be honest.

It will depend on your output flange size and engine position but I imagine 325 would be the closest

So I picked up the gearbox at the weekend, turned out it was actually a e36 316 box, not happy, actually really flipping p1ssed off and seriously about to jack in this 30 conversion, it's turning out to be so much hassle, all I want is a flipping m30 box without paying the earth, is that too much to ask ??

Hope I get my money back, I think the guy genuinely thought it was m30 also. Looks like he is well known here, Neil at A u t o m a c

The advert is above post

It's like the last thing I need then I'm good to go.

Might sell the lot and go down the m52 route instead.

Well, the seller has offered to swap the box, he said it was a genuine mistake and i now need to spend more time and money driving to swap the box over. Such a pain in the ass, i need a break from all this.

Take a step back for a few days chap, no good getting stressed out. I'd get the seller to help foot the bill of returning it as he has mis sold you an item, not your fault.

Meanwhile theres a e28 box on fleabay here. Needs a cleanup but might be good.

I'd be forcing him to pay your costs at this point. His mistake, not yours. At minimum at least split the fuel cost.

Chin up! The conversion is worth it.

Also, Mcbonio is right, the M52 swap is harder. Stick with M30 for what its worth, it sounds like you're nearly there with all the bits. Once you have the bits its nearly a bolt in swap 8)

Thanks guys , appreciate the support :D

The seller thinks he has found the actual m30 box but is not so sure so has asked me to confirm, I've started another thread. Cheers
