What happened to MFree's M3? That guy had a serious amount of bad luck with his car but i never saw any finished pics of it? Did he give up in the end?!

he certainly gave up ... the car is just as it was years ago unfinished but a very sound shell,
I'm sure it will make an appearance for sale one day

The car did actually get finished,in a fashion. Rob used it for about a year and took it to Le Mans a few years ago. like many projects , some of the final snagging was never done and it had a nasty non M3 trim. When Rob died , I bought it off his father.
Molested cars are not my thing but most of the work that has been done has been done to a good standard and the none sunroof shell is excellent.
I have accumulated most of the morsels needed to sort it including a very nice Recaro 'high back' black leather trim. I have done a few bits and pieces to it but like a cobblers shoes , it is last in the queue
I also have the ex Das chin/ Hoobs S50'd 320 IS track turd and de snagging that and getting it served is my current priority.
So many turds, so little time

i started to read the mfree thread in zone gold,i got two pages read and gave up,no pictures
some of the posts are like a chapter long and i get bored easily ,i wonder how much he actually lost out on/spunked on it .last count was 17000 without the cost of the car in first place and then being raped by Pete <<<
at the end of it makes me wonder is he still about or did he go buy some rope

I did the same but skipped to the end and seen that it was running and stuff .Its unbelievable that apparent reputable garages can do the tricks that were done to him ,i would have give up long before ,it could have been so much more if he wasnt robbed of so much.magpie wrote:i started to read the mfree thread in zone gold,i got two pages read and gave up,no pictures![]()

The car owed him high 30s by the time it was 'finished' !
It was one of the first S50 converted cars that I know of, the build was started in '98 iirc .
Many people spent lots of Robs money trying to figure out what works / fits and what doesn't

That M3 had a bit of work done at a friends garage once, it sounded awsome and actually inspired me to do an s50. Iv'e seen it at pete's grave yard, got to admit i do have a soft spot for that car!

The biggest problem is he was obviously too trusting in the people that were involved, listened to their lies and believed it all.sunnysr wrote:I did the same but skipped to the end and seen that it was running and stuff .Its unbelievable that apparent reputable garages can do the tricks that were done to him ,i would have give up long before ,it could have been so much more if he wasnt robbed of so much.magpie wrote:i started to read the mfree thread in zone gold,i got two pages read and gave up,no pictures![]()

Stratos Motorsport & Zoom were both involved
John at zoom had other issues in his life but got a lot done to it, unlike the wankers at stratos who sold / stole / borrowed his engine
Rob was a nice guy, but also had serious issues. He was a clever intelectual guy but had an addictive personality and habits
RIP Rob
