My heater started squealing a month ago, it was really annoying! But not as annoying as now it doesn't always work when you want it to.... Has a mind of its own.

So... This has reminded me what a good idea it was for me to fit heated seats in to my sports leather when we had snow a while ago. It also reminded me that I had never put the pics up!

So here you go....

Image

A £60 odd set of universal heated seat kit.... It was a gamble but it was worth a try!

When working in the dark it's useful to have a map light mirror :P

Fitting the buttons, I'm thinking of a way to fit them to the proper e30 buttons but 1, they are really expensive and 2) I don't know how the the switches work... I'll have to get some to find out :/

Switches on,

They have 3 heat settings and they do get pretty damn hot :D

Anyway some might say that I've ruined some good seats but in my eyes I don't see how I ever lived without them!

Now all I need is.................. Rear heated seats!! :D

Interested to know if it would wire up to the OE switches. Cheers.

Yeah it would be cool but I need some to test like are they latching or momentary etc the all I'd possible it a but of simple work. But still I need some to work with. If any come up cheap I will buy them and update! :P

This is what I bought:

Don't know what deals are about now as I bought these when there was snow forecast... Guessing the price would have gone up in those circumstances haha

Well £60 for the kit, I started in the day light then it went dark.... I think it took me about 5 hours to do, then plus me driving to Heathrow? Or come and spend the day in Leamington Spa :P

Horrible job, I've done it a few times and never again. I didn't re-use the staples last time I did it, too much of a pain, I glued velcro to the foam and the material which worked very nicely.

No I put all the metal clips back easy to do with pliers the only thing I didn't do is the three stitches in the seat base the ones which go right the way through... If it really annoys me I don't see why I can't get some strong black thick thread and re introduce them but if I'm honest you can't tell.

The "Stitches" aren't stitches, it's just glued and the contours of the padded layer underneath give it it's shape.

Ah, those. The plastic loops that attach them are usually broken anyway.

I had to chop mine! Haha and that's a good idea did you stitch them to the leather then cable tied them to the frame...
