HI anyone who reads this
i am looking for a someone to go over my j reg cabby which has been sitting on my mums drive for two years. I have decided enough is enough and want to sort it all out.
Firstly want to get the car back on the road but dont know any decent mechanics who i would trust or competent enough to make it run and improve the performance.
so guys if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great.
specs: J reg 325i cab, 100k, auto
located in Southend On sea, but live in London (dont mind having it done in either location)
Budget: Not the hugest on the world, so need someone who is fairly reasonable. want a good job but not be ripped off.
if anyone in the zone has any insight that would be great.
thanks
Ozzy

I would personally put new battery on, fresh fuel in and check water and oil levels and see if it fired up first mate. Stick it in for a MOT and see what it needs apart from good service. At least if it does fail you will have a rough idea of how bad and how much it will cost.
Hope that helps.

Started first time serviced it put some coil overs I n and dropped it a little. Put some borbet b's on having it r rubbed down and prepped ready for re spray. Still have to sort the hood out as not closing properly. Then have to retrim some recaro ls's with heated strips. So still a fair bit to go

Have a go yourself, a car that's been stood for two years and has some issues is not worth much. But they are fairly easy to work on with a halfords toolkit, jack and axel stands and the invaluable wiki / tech help forum.
Much cheaper to do even with BMW / OEM spec parts than paying a regular so called mechanic. If you really don't want to tackle it on your own there are several reputable zoners that can work on them.
London wise Pacerpete, B7 and BSS325i and a good few others I believe.

I wouldn't run this too much before you determine when the cam belt was last changed.
Two years stood is half its life in one hit!
