Looking for some advice hear

I recently bought a full stainless exhaust from scott325se to fit under the sport.

The problem is I can't get it to fit at all.

The exhaust came of a tech one sport and its a three piece system.

I'm pretty certain that it should fit my car but I've tried twice now and I'm unable to get the centre silencer to fit into the central heat shield area and the rear silencer is tight up against the rear valance.

It's as if the hole zaust needs to move over a good two inch?

My car has the facelift manni on and I've had to have the holes opened up on the down flange to marry up the difference in the stud pattern but this has not moved the position of the down pipe.

I'm stuck. Am I right in thinking that the exhaust should be compatible?

I really don't want to start hacking chunks of the pipes to make it fit plus I will have to get the ends swaged again.

Here are some pics.

The second from the bottom picture shows just how far out the centre section is. I'm confident that all my joints are fitted correctly.

Has anyone had this before?

it obviously never fitted scotts car :? That needs some heat/bending action or re making around the centre box section. If its out there it will throw the rear box out of alignment also.

Can you get it to fit with all the joints loosend off? the hold all in place and tighten it all up

Simon

If you look at the forth picture down you can see how far out of position the centre section is.

I'm thinking if I cut the front tubes of the front section of the middle silencer it will move the whole zaust over and improve the angle of the rear silencer.

I'm a little reluctant to do this though as I don't want to f££k it up. It will need the ends re swaging as well which is a specialist job.

I'm really pissed as I'm so close to having this finished. I've had the car running with the zaust on and it really does sound good. I want to keep it but don't want epic mot style welding.

Paul I've just updated beardymats thread. Mot time soon once this exhaust drama is sorted.

Simon I don't think heat is going to sort it. The zaust is made from proper thick stainless and weighs a ton.

I only had a couple of hours kip this morning before starting in the garage after a 12 hour night shift.

Maybe some fresh eyes will give me more of an idea.

I'd probably hack an inch or so off the pipes either just before or just after the flange where the downpipe attaches to the mid pipe, which due tote angle of the pipes would move the centre box over, but would also shift the lot forwards a bit ( although not sure from te pics whether this would upset the system elsewhere.
cheers,

This bit is a swaged joint Dan. The centre section has the swaged end and slides over the down pipes.

Thinking about it I could lop the swaged end off and the just sleeve it to the right position.

I need a ramp as this is a total PITA laying on your back!

I will have a butchers tomorrow after getting the car up on sleepers again.

I have had a quick look on the net for stainless tubing. Just to double check the Diameter of the pipe and get the cutter out.

:D

I've had a load of bloody bother with exhausts too tbh.

Bought a Bosal rear box from Leisureshack to replace the rusted one currently on the car. Sent it round the mechnics to fit it (no time etc). Apparently wouldn't fit! Ended up having to get the budget one from ECP instead (which looks crap!). :(

Decided I'm not going to mission it out further but will supply the exhaust with the car if/when I decide to sell it later this year.

If the end of the frontpipes is the same diameter/unmolested pipe then you can cut it back as far as you want and it will still slide into the centre section

Right

I had a good play about with this today.

I can get it close but not close enough. I've tried heat as well but I've no chance with stainless.

Its going to need some fabrication of the pipes from the rear silencer to the mid silencer and the front end chopping to make it fit.

Not Happy!
