greetings.

I just had some major surgery done to my pride and joy. I felt compelled to share my excitement.
I purchased this car last year knowing it needed some 'minor' rust work to the rear, it's funny how passion can overcome all else.. i believe i broke every rule known to the used car consumer, 'don't buy old, stay away from rust, accident free, unknown history, don't buy from someone you know (are there others? - I'm sure i broke them)...

when i brought the vehicle in I specified that i wasn't looking for a show stopper (hoping to keep the price within an acceptable range) so i didn't care what it looked like underneath. the work was done by Big City Auto - really nice people, even took these pictures and e-mailed them to me while i was waiting for my car. It was a week late due to the amount of work they had to do, but i'd told them time wasn't an issue, (there was a cold spell and salt was all over the roads) i just asked them to keep inside.

I'm new to this, so i hope these pictures work...

yup. there was a lot more than i had thought. Originally it came from Ontario (there's quite a bit of snow there so it was getting eaten by the salt on the road and not well maintained I imagine). the guy who i bought it off did all the tuning and babied it (never drove it in the rain etc) but stopped short on the body work.

I paid approx. $1200CAD for it

i know. i've heard they're about 1/2 the price of most restoration places. i went to a few body shops at first and they wouldn't even look at it, guess they make so much money off insurance claims they don't want to touch rusted bodies.

thanks for the positive words, the wheels are nice. i bought a complete set of Pirelli P zero nero 205/50 tires to go on them a few months back.

That 1st pic is about the size of the rust on mine. The rest of it's perfect (which is why i bought it even with a duff head). Need to get it sorted as it's right by the towing eye, and i don't fancy having that ripped off.
