i am there next week.

I get the feeling that this level of 'show' isn't that interesting to Zoners. I like the big glamorous shows myself - nobody into them?

Looking forward to seeing the BMW stand.

New Ferrari hypercar.

New McLaren P1.

New Corvette Stingray.

4 Series BMWs.

Peugeot's new 205 GTi remake.

Sounds like a good jolly , especially with a bit of 'hospitality' thrown in :)

Hopefully you won't have to walk around with a big badge stating " I am the cooont trying to get you soft c0cks to toilet your till on a Chevrolet / Daewoo" Oh the shame ! 8O

I'm a consultant Pete so no loyalty there.

Did you know the 2013 Corvette STILL has a rear leaf spring axle?

In 2013!

..I used to go to the motor show at the NEC in the 80s when I was at school, tragically I threw half the brochures away when I was still at school :(

Can't work myself into a lather about any of that new metal, the last good looking Ferrari went out of production 24 years ago :(

I went to Geneva years ago, mid to late nineties - it's a fine event but I still miss the NEC. Last time I went was 2000.

Best press launch ever? 2000 Ford Mondeo. Hotel near Stansted, then early morning private jet to Toulon airport, then new Mondeo to St. Tropez and the Hotel Byblos with plenty of driving around the South of France over a couple of days. Great car and a great launch event. I still have the Hotel Byblos cup complete with gold edging on the rim, unused and still in the box. The Mrs took it from its box and put it amongst the peasant cups - caught her just in time and back into the box it went. :D

I went on an E36 launch as well in 1995, 323i and 328i in Southern Spain. It was tied in with a Michelin Pilot event as well. Much debauchery that evening.

The 355 was the transition ferrari wasn't - they had some howlers right before, Testarossa / 512 / Mondial etc. Its decent value thse days too.

Frankfurt is epic - the German go big at home and the Messe Stadion is MASSIVE.

Nah.

If you're gonna go old it has to be the 250 GTO / 275 GTB.

Nope, the 275 looks like a fat labrador. I'm probably the one person in the world who things it's not a looker. Far too much fat, rounded body, not enough glass, proportions all wrong. The E Type is much prettier as is a 63 Corvette.
The 250GT was stunning and I have a thing for the four headlamp 330's. For me the seventies and early eighties was the era for Ferrari - the 365GT/400/412 cars, the Berlinetta Boxers and the 308GTB as well as the 246GT Dino. The 288GTO was an amazing thing. I prefer them to the F40 which for me was the last stunning Ferrari.
After that, the Testosterone, the bland 348 and 355 and the ridiculous Enzo thing. They were the beginning of the F1/Schumacher/marchandise tat era. I do like the 550 and 575 though.

4/10. A fat bloke in trainers.

Must try harder, although that's by far the most flattering angle.

I think all that OTT curvaceousness is a bit suspect.

The E-Type is awesome.

That 330 you were on about looks like any other Austin Minor wooden doored abortion. Nothing spesh at all.

Sometimes when everyone rants and raves about something being the best EVAH and they're worth eleventy billion quid, I turn off. I like the offbeat option that is almost always far less money and probably a better car. I'll have a Boxer rather than a Daytona and a 308GTB over a 246GT. I'll have a Marina Coupe or a Sierra Estate over a Mondial.

If the 275GTB was £150'000 I could get over my dislike for them. But they're not. They're a sodding fortune. It's going to be a complete tank to drive, just like the DB5, another car I consider an ugly, overrated shed. Horrible to drive and ugly = don't want.

Rather than all this old Italian shit, I'll have a black M1 please. They're still priced within reason, only the most enlightened know what it is and I bet it's still a lovely thing to drive.

Morris made the Minor btw, not Austin. :D

..not even that keen on the 250 GTO, too much bulk at the back and the front is too low and flat..almost like a cut and shut effort.. GTO these days is more about Nick Mason, Jon Hunt and the 'classic motor racing' nonsense that goes on at Goodwood..

Is that a replica? Looks like a Cortina mark 3 windscreen.

GTO's don't do much for me either, unless it's the 288 version. Now that, as they say, is a motor.

I agree - but we're talking old ferraris so if we must...

My 5 car dream garage probably wouldn't break 250K.

Alfa Romeo SZ100 - Red
BMW E30 M3 Evo II - Macau Blue
Porsche 959 - White
BMW E30 318iS - Lazer Blue
Mercedes 500 SL - R107 - Silver

Maybe it would... 8O

The 959 is okay, but I'd never go fast enough or drive it well enough to appreciate what it can do. A 70's or 80's 911 Turbo will do for me.
To that I'd add that black M1, a similar vintage Aston Martin V8 Coupe, a Maserati Bora and a 512BB. That's if we're talking impractical supercars that cost a fortune to run.

To that I could add another 30-40 cars ranging from an Escort Twin Cam to a 1960 Coupe De Ville. So much old shi....classics, too few dollars. :(

Old beefy are Astons are great. I'd like 1 60s dodgy massive yank tank in there with a bench front seat.

Agreed. Technological tour de force they might be ,but it looks like something you would have seen parked behind Harrods on a summer evening back in 1988 .

When my scratch cards come in, and I go shopping for an 80s hypercar, it will be 288GTO shaped :)

A 959 rear engine cover/spoiler is £25'000 - you wouldn't want a 959 festering in the passage and big bits of tree falling on it. :D

I'd stick it in the trees where that lachs touring is . It would be safe in there from aeriel attack and I would not have to look at the gopping minger :)
