Chaps,

I am not so impressed with braking performance at the moment so am going to do a brake refresh in a number of stages.

First up will be a fluid flush and replace the soft brake hoses - can i flush the whole system while still only replacing the front hoses?

I don't have the time to replace all of the hoses at once, nor hardware to have all 4 wheels off the ground at the same time.

How can this be achieved? Can i flush the rears first, chuck the wheels back on etc and then do the hoses and bleed at the front? Will this definitely get rid of all old fluid?

Apologies if this is a daft question and all advise is welcome.

Let all of the fluid in the reservoir drain out through the disconnected front hoses. The reservoir effectively divides into two at the bottom, one section for the front and one for the back, so even with the fronts disconnected and all the fluid drained out, the rear brakes will still work and the lines not get air into them, although I recommend that you stay away from the pedal while the car is in this state.

Cheers Brian.

So as long as i use a pressure bleeder for the flush then most of the old fluid should go out through the front lines? Will use a syringe to remove most of it anyway.

I take it that there will be old fluid in the rear division that will need to be power flushed later in the same manner?

Is there much chance of the fluid flowing backwards and mixing? I have no idea what brand/type is in there now.

Thanks
