Hi guys,

Bored of my Golf daily, so looking at getting into a cheap E30, and I need more doors so I'm looking at a 4 door.

The car in question is a G reg 320i SE 4 door manual in white.
It's done 148k with no history, taxed till June, MOT'd till october.
Has a shonky looking tech 2 front bumper and rear spoiler.
Lowered on shocks and springs of some description
14" BBS's that look to have been rattle canned black

He says there is no rust on the body, but you can guarantee I'll find some.

Basically I want a cheap smoker, so I can sell the Golf and put some cash in the bank towards my respray.

Using the Wiki, there's a guesstimation of £600, but wondering if you guys have any opinions to it's worth, could it be worth more? He's asking no less than £800

FWIW, my 320SE 2 door was £800, 100k very reasonable history year mot, lots of money recently spent, no rust on scuttle or floor/bulkhead. Negatives were - arches inside pretty poor with rust and a worn clutch were the only issues.

No history is worrying.

He 'says' history was lost in a house move, usual story. Seats are probably worth £200-400, they're Honda S2000 items.

Even with the amount of tax and mot? I mean I suppose if I picked up some cheap standard front seats and sold the Honda items, it would owe me roughly that much

The accepted method of valuing a four door is = Net weight + 50% of the value of readily. saleable morsels. This is the RETAIL value. The sale value is usually a lot less, especially if it is my money ! :)

Saleable morsel = working OBC ,Tech 2 Wheel, hlww . NOT rust free o/s/r door , cracked dashboard, drum brake rear end.

Don't agree ? Try and sell a four door ! :(

If you need a four door E30 , buy a touring. Better looking, useful, less rust prone, better spec and when you want to get shot, you will be able to sell it.

I want a touring in the long run, but they command a lot more money. If nobody else bids on this, I could pick it up for £650. I know 4 doors aren't to your liking Pete, but it is literally just a cheap banger to run around in, so I can raise funds from the VR6 to go towards the 2 door paint job.

Latter to this I will save up for a touring and I'd be happy to sell this for £5-600, as it will have served it's purpose

How do you know it's got rusty arches?

When I save up for a touring, I want the right one as that will be a keeper, tidy leather, tech 2 kit, ideally red or black

This is just for a short term runabout

The problem is that £650 is the STARTING point. The turd will NOT have bills for four new Michelins and a recent cambelt change.
It WILL be a worn out screaming hound that will need lots of time and money to make it a reliable useable car. Why bother ? no matter how much time and money you put into it it will still be a worthless councilled up turd.

These are not my opinions, these are the facts ! :)

sorry, i was looking at the one bigwinn posted above thought that was it !!

nicer tourings ive seen have always been un molested standard ones, i bet most kitted with leather etc would of had a harder life, seen a couple of real nice alpine ones for sale recently but 325i or higher priced 318i, i wouldnt mind a nice enough sub 1k alpine myself, think its the best color for tourings

I have no intention putting any money into it, I'll run it for a couple of months and get shut, it certainly won't be due an MOT by the time I move it on.

If it needs odds and sods or tyres etc, I've got bits lying around from the sport, as well as 2 spare sets of wheels

Or option c: it self-destructs in a week? Leaving you with a nice choice between coughing up a grand to get it running again, or taking a 500 quid hit on scrapping it..

A well-maintained E30 is cheap to run. The opposite is also true..

Keep the your daily Golf and build up a bigger amount for a good touring. In the mean time, a cheap one might appear.

What everyone above is saying is from experience and knowledge.

I've also just had it confirmed that it's fitted with LSD too.

The main reason I'm wanting to do it, is it's a quick fix, get this for £650, sell the Golf for approx £1250, put £500 or so in the pot towards my rust hunt/respray on the sport.

If this blows up, it's got seats in worth £300, now I know it's got LSD, there's another £2-300 if it's not shagged, sell the bumper and spoiler for £100 or so if they're genuine, at least £50 for the wheels, a few morsels, and roll it over the bridge for £120

That's worst case if it blows up, it might not. If it doesn't I'd be happy to get £500 back when I get rid as it'll have served it's purpose

Think I'm just trying to talk myself into it being worth it to be honest Pete. Taking the advice on board, I'm not making him an offer to end early, but we'll see if I get an itchy trigger finger when the auction ends

I'm under no illusions that BK's are shit :) but they were £100 with good Pirelli P Zero Nero's all round, they were worth it for the tyres, they're by no means a long term thing
