Thing is it wasn't a brag, it was a confession of a lucky escape that makes you think. Wow i got away with that i need to slow down a bit. Obviously never happened to you? ha ha rubbish i expect. As stated if you new the road in question there isn't a house or pavement in site!
Its called being honest also............which you could learn? before you pass judgement. I should taken you out when at Jim's a few months ago, i bet you wouldn't of told me off hammering down the A3?! While i'm here i'll tell DanThe his test drive of the 540i was wholly irresponsible when he took me out in it?!![]()
This whole thread has turned into a f**king joke, myself included. All politics, bullshit and pointless drivel. I thought today i wish we'd never bought the f**king thing. All i get is people passing their opinions all the time about what they think we should be doing with it. Everyone seems to have very strong views about this car?! why i don't know is it me? the car itself theres been just as many of cars of this ilk before owned by zoners that never turned out this way.
It was supposed to be like every other alpina i've had and shared on here bit fun and share the work, trials and tribulations
Where did it all go wrong.
Simon, I think you are being paranoid. Where are there any 'strong' views about this car ?
It's a great car and I cannot think of one person that would disagree with that. I would go as far as to say the Biturbo was Alpinas finest hour.
Having owned two and known lots, I would say yours is one of the best anywhere and at the price you paid a screaming deal.
Running one of these, especially twenty years on is hard work, from both a financial and time perspective, but as I am sure you would agree, so worth it.
I cannot see where you are picking up this negative vibe from.
The banter between the draggers is just that. Deep down they know they are peasants !
You are the man with THE hero chariot.
PS Have you refitted the rear spoiler and original head unit yet ?

Did it have a Roll cage, with a lot more vertical metal than usual?
Si, why worry what anybody else thinks?
I,d never get out the front door if started down that road.

i guess maybe i am,
i put the boot spoiler back on maybe a month ago. OE radio is on the bookshelf with history! Sony FTW
tbh there is a list of stuff to do but i'm waiting for the ramp to be fixed at Henrys joint as he said i can take it apart and leave it there.
Just ordered 2 new rear tyres
mich pilot sport 2's in the correct 265/40/17 size. A result after looking online to avail then ebay of all places! Not many companys making tyres in this strange size it seems
Theres an MOT in April to check be ready for, i'm guessing a cracked dipped headlamp lense is an MOT fail due to possible beam disruption? its just too cold at the moment and i can't be arsed in a way going outside at the weekends. I'm ready for summer now poxy weather
The new O2 sensor and MAF cleaning seemed to have helped the economy a little i think, managed 500kms from about 70 litres. Whereas the last time it had a but load of fuel it managed about 630kms to around 100 litres! So a slight improvement even if its low 20's

Big guy, being honest, you wouldn't be trying to bait me would you
Have I ever been caught for speeding, yes. Driven more than twice the speed limit no never. We're you lucky, yes very.
It could have been all very different if a, you'd been booked b, lost control for some reason and crashed and c, hit another vehicle or pedestrian
at those kind of speeds. It those last two things that need thinking about especially for family men.........
It wasn't a personal attack, just an opinion about speeding.
As for your car, it's a real corker and I don't mind admitting that I am extremely jealous Simon. I look forward to seeing the thread updates about it and the work and attention you are giving it.
Seeing it in the flesh was great, it's a fantastic car.........
As Pete said most won't have the coin or the commitment to take it on and keep it alive in the correct manner by doing it properly.

because of high gearing,, you must be driving 120-130km to get a good average consuption,, or be in 90 in 4th gear

This quite the machine, about as enviromentally friendly as you can get, love it, proper car.

X5 V8 for thrills, CRV for chills, Range Rover P38 V8 for sooooo much aggravation...

Tough break. Is it just a matter of sorting the turbo or is there more grief?

Sorry to hear that Simon, tough break......
I fear in the hands of others less committed its return could be a long time off or even never.
Hope you get it sorted.

About the only guys I'd trust with turbos. Local to me, used them several times with no issues at all. My mechanic has been using them for years and never had any problems

Ok so now i know whats wrong i was driving noticed it didn't feel right, so put my foot down and noticed the boost was reading low. Hmmmmi thought, then i noticed i couldn't see out of my rear window! smoke sh!te so freewheeled down the road and pulled over at the petrol station. Must been half a mile max distance
I was on the way back from the pub on friday after work like i do most fridays and i normally take the B10 as it normally sits all week with no one using it. So we towed it home as i was just the other side of town about 2 miles. The B3 didnt like towing the big e34!

quick switch on, see what i mean. Engine runs and idles fine just alot of smoke!

Whats more annoying is these turned up on weds a new pair of rear PS2's. Nevermind

undertray off...........holy moly

Rear turbo

This is the offending rear one, my guess is the bearings failed forwhatever reason and the shafts snapped

Front one off, this seems fine but while its off.............

So thats how it sits, i'm thinking strip the inlet and get the rocker oil filter cap repainted by that nice man Trevor!! Spruce up the bay

Minty? never of guessed the milege i'd of said. Do these banjo bolts need to be checked tightened while i can get to them easy? Don't want the cam wearing for no good reason later on

Picked this damage up last weekend, so while i'm here

May aswell sort the head lamp glass out the drivers main beam is chipped also, plus the A/C isn't working.......la la la

I'm not expert but this is the biggest intercooler i've seen! No holes i can see in it as i expect a new one is £££
I need to get the oil out of the exhuast? esp the cats?! i've got it stored upright and its running out slowly slowly. Bit of petrol down it?? i hope the new lambda isn't goosed either.
Probably a good time to look under the bed for more money and do the clutch whiles its having a break. Sort the oil leak on the diff and possible rear sub frame bushes too. Going to be a busy/expensive time. 2 door will have to wait now but i've got the block and head in the machine shop. I won't be chasing them for it!
