MOT/tax question.
Moderator: martauto
Went to tax the Touring the other day, woman at the post office, initially wouldn't tax it, saying my mot wasn't valid, despite it being mot'd until August. Eventually after a long discussion, she let it go, & I now have 6 months tax. I need to sort out the status of my certificate, according to her, their system shows, I don't have a valid mot, & probably aren't insured either. Any one had this problem?

I can see this happening more and more as everything goes "computerised". I recall someone getting aggro from the boys in blue for driving an insured car that wasn't registered on the database as insured.

did you see that story with the chap on here a year or 2 ago ? cant remember details but was something like... went to see his mrs a good few miles/hours away, got pulled up there friday evening, he was all legal but the fuzz said he wasnt insured (not on the database) so the coonts took his carJesus325iTouring wrote:I can see this happening more and more as everything goes "computerised". As a direct result of not remembering how many '0's are in one of my plates, my wife drove around for two years with a car that wasn't on the database, and didn't get pulled. It was only when my insurance company sent me a list of reg. numbers insured, with the make and model of car along side, that I realised I'd been insuring some unknown persons Jag. for them for twenty four months.TPS wrote:Thanks, I surprised I haven't been pulled yet, for not having an MOT, I drive it 40 miles a day.

That's probably the story I remember Polsta, 'kin nightmare!
And thats a worrying mistake Brian, in the event of an accident insurance company no doubt would have declared the policy void.

Thanks, Its fine on there. It must be the Post Office, the Woman said there was a flag on the system, saying suspected invalid mot, and she couldn't issue a disc on that basis, after explaining I've used the same guy for years for the mot, & it was absolutely above board, she said "I'll issue it, just this once", & urged me to sort it, because my insurance is probably invalid!!!!sag wrote:https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-status-vehicle

Wouldn't have been a problem because any car that I or my wife are driving is automatically covered by the policy, so it would have soon been sorted if I had been stopped, but plod wouldn't know that until I'd been pulled and told him.Jesus325iTouring wrote: And thats a worrying mistake Brian, in the event of an accident insurance company no doubt would have declared the policy void.
