I started on here to sort out the problems on my E30. The Zone attitude ("sort it out, E30s are piss-easy to fix") convinced me to a full restoration. In turn, that showed me that there were loads of people in the same boat asking the same questions, and we had a Wiki that was mostly empty, so I took that on to document my own repairs.
Since then, writing the Wiki has got me work in the real world, so its in my interests to keep the Wiki running; it acts a bit like a CV.

It is a good place for assistance, advice, parts and to help others.
That would have been a option and the one I would have clicked.
Examples, I was tying myself in knots yesterday over which tyres to buy for a daily. One thread and it helped me make the decision. That must be good right?
I've met some great people on here that have helped and assisted beyond the relms expected. And they still do. I have also met some right w4nkers that I wouldn't p1ss on if they were on fire but you have to take the rough with the smooth!!!

Various reasons for me.
Mainly at the moment because I've been on here nearly 4 years and I like the environment and most of the chat/discussion that goes on here.
Ulterior motives at the moment are also; keeping my eyes peeled for e30's coming up for sale, building my e30 knowledge further, and helping people with whatever I can whenever I have the ability to do so.

lolits been a massive help to me on here, some very intelligent, helpful people.

I'm guessing it'll be ten years here for me this year. It's a good way of staying in touch with mates who live all over the UK.
1,2,3,4,6
1. i've had loads of help with fixing my car i'd never of done a 24v engine conversion without this place and in turn i've helped many other people fix their cars .
2. i religiously log in every day with my morning coffee !
3. i have sold many parts over the years and the money from this pays for my car ,any parts needed, tax ,mot and insurance .
4.i buy all kinds of parts on here from full cars to brand new clutches etc, some of the parts i need and use myself and some i don't need but buy them anyway like an illuminated g/knob or leather h/brake handle coz these parts are f00kin executive innit!
6. i have made many good friends on here from all over the country and have actually met most of them .
it's getting lame on here nowadays with the shit threads in chat section that should clearly be in the tech help section like what fookin spark plugs should i use and where can i shove my ariel hole .
other than one or two idiots who should never own a push bike never mind a car and post all over the place every day it's a good place but the cars are even better

I chose "I'm a serious enthusiast looking for like minded people"
Luckily there is enough like minded people on here, just wish they would post more often!

I voted 6 here although 1 and 2 are also valid
I am on a few E30 sites...the local SA one is useful for local information and parts but the real experts...Hi Brian....are on this site!
I have referred many owners from other sites to this forum when it is obvious that they are getting useless advice elsewhere

#2 really for me tinged with #6. Had my tech 2 sport which got me into all things BMW and I was around the 70th member on here back in the day. Have made some good friends on here and hang around to keep in touch and annoy with pics and progress of my current BMW turd.
Mark.
All but number three, I'd say.. mainly as I'm crap at getting round to selling anything and let it all collect in various piles around the flat.
This site is great, I can't stand facebook or even the thought of most other online social networks... this is my fix. Sometimes it gets boring with not much going on but so is the rest of life.
Seeing, discussing, being helped out and trying to help others with their E30's is great. I've always loved pulling things apart to see how they work and try to make them work better, this website has given my great confidence to dig (pull apart) deeper..

I like the atmosphere. The arguments. The OEM vs the driftc*ck arguments.
Also, still searching for the answer to the ultimate question.
Which is better, 318is or 325i?
