brian, is there anything else i should get for a major sort of service/recomission to get back on the road ?
Depends what condition everything is in, of course, but pay special attention to anything made of rubber, such as hoses, bushes, etc.
ive left brakes off the order at the moment, is my 325i rear disc ? i cant even remember lol its been that long since off the road

what pads and discs should i be looking at ?
All 325's have rear discs (it's only smaller engined saloons without ABS that don't). My 'fake' CP4L order was actually a complete set of pads and discs for an E30! Pagid is normally what I use. Pagid pads are OE BMW (what you buy in a more expensive box from the dealer), and although Pagid discs aren't OEM (AFAIK), they're made by TMF Friction, who are one of the world's largest brake manufacturers.

I bought pagid all round, although the rear pads that came were ATE, but I was told they are also OEM. Haven't used them yet so couldn't give a review

Pagid are OEM on various manufacturers inc Mercedes I believe. They're part of the TMD friction group which also includes Textar & Mintex. Have run them on my sport and never heard as much as a squeak out of them.

They were comissioned to design a brake pad that could slow the Bugatti Veyron down, I got to see the test video's in a training session a while ago.

Correct, 1 set of pads for the front, one for the rear.

woooo!

Glad I just read this thread.

Set of rear discs, front pads, ONE front disc = £100.80 :-)
one front disc, rear pads and a spare oil filter = £51.72 :-)
discounts then applied!

thanks Brian!

Water pump depends where your header tank is. If it's on the LH inner wing you need the later pump, but if it's on the right, you have the earlier system which requires a pump with an extra stub pipe on it.
When you've narrowed it to a choice of more than one of the correct part, always go for the more expensive one. Part numbers ending in '0' should indicate an OEM part, and those ending in '5' are supposed to be of OE quality, but not by an OE manufacturer.

Carparts4less; same pads, same part number = £21.30, plus a further discount of between a minimum of 8% and a maximum of 15% if you spend at least £50.
Some people are easily taken in by Sale! sale! sale! promotions.
All well and good assuming you get the correct parts and don't need to return them.

I've had an issue with CP4L with trying to return a waterpump which was supposed to be a KWP (ended up being some random unbranded jobbie sold at the premium price). Only took 3 months and numerous phone calls to actually get the refund sorted. Missions.

Sometimes actually having the correct parts in your hands and easily being able to refund or exchange the item is worth the marginal premium.
