Hi folks!

Came across a good bargain for a set of genuine 17" staggered BBS Super RS (8*17, 9*17). They are 5*114.3 with ET39. They go for 1100 USD in great condition without tires.

Currently running genuine 16" non-staggered 4-lug Alpinas and do NOT want to switch my suspension for 5 lugs.

Hence, facing a dilemma: should I redrill them for 4 lugs OR go for 4*100/5*114.3 adapters?

Some of my friends dissuade me from using adapters telling how unreliable they can be in terms of safety and stuff. What do you think? Any safety issues related to using adapters?

My car is 1993 318 M40 Touring with Auto transmission.

Here is a photo of how they sit using temporal 18mm spacer.

Thanks for reply.

These are Japanese market specific wheels (http://www.naisnet.co.jp/04bbs/bbs_super_rs.htm)
These are the specs:

Can you get 4x100 to 5x114.3 adapters? Would have thought the bolt holes would clash like with 5x120.

If you can get some I would say go for adapters. Just make sure they are quality and hubcentric and you won't have any problems.

If these are from the Jap market, then they will be a 2 piece wheel?

You're right. They are two piece.
How do you know though that Jap market wheels are two piece?

Most BBS from the Jap market are 2 piece wheels, for some reason , they saw it fit to have the barrel and waffles welded, similar to the RM's.

Is it worth setting up a group buy??

Interested in this actually as I have set of mint 5x114.3 8/9x16 rs's in my garage. The wheels are staggered but the front and rear dishes are both the same, which floats my boat :D

I'd love to run them if I could safely
