I thought all 318i e30s had 4.27 diffs? I looked at the tag the other day and it looks like mine is a 4.10? All this time I thought I had a whizzy 4.27 to go with my m42 but I guess I've been living a lie!!

The iS has a 4.10, the manual M40 cars have 4.27s iirc.
Doh, too slow, and one day I'll remember the wiki

Yeah jmc that's what I thought but mine started off as a 318i m40 manual. Very confused? Maybe it's been changed in its life to a 318is diff for some reason? It's not high milage though, I dunno how long diffs last?

Or it's had an M10 318 diff fitted in the past.

Ahh that would make more sense. Yeah looking at the wiki there are a few with 4.10. Seems weird though, was only on 107k when I got it. Suppose they do go though if the oil was never changed. Oh well atleast now I don't have to worry bout searching the earth for a 4.27lsd. Even 4.10 aren't common mind.
