cheers everyone, its good to hear, as for my overspraying of parts in the engine bay, I fully agree, a lot of the nuts n bolts will get replaced later, its a money thing. and the bonnet runners WILL either be replaced or cleaned right up like new, wanting the engine bay stickers eventualy. top mounts can be rectified with some carefull black paint :-) and as for the m50 inlet, BE PATIENT! lol im not made of money.... and the LHD RHD thing.... well all I can say is, HERES MY BOTHERD FACE  lol I don't mind people seeing its a replica, but id like them to say, "its a very good replica" and to be fair, I put money on it that theres genuine m3's out there that have been converted by the customer for preference. if I wanted to be anal about fooling people its a m3, I think id have used genuine panels and gone LHD. id sooner just go buy the real thing :-) this way its taylord to my taste without ruining one of the most iconic cars out there. Oooooosh! that is all :D

Every panel scraped, concrete dust caked all over it, fist sized hole in the scuttle so assume no firewall left. Other wise solid and 65k on the clock last time I looked.

But no, it's owned by some women who thinks it's the Crown Jewels. Was offered £8k cash a few years ago (strong money then) and said no. Seen countless offers put on it but she won't sell it.

Doesn't even get driven any more. I'll snap some pics when I walk past it later

Oh just to add insult to injury she paid £1500 for it when values were in the gutter. Was a trade in that the dealer had no interest in and wanted shifting. At that point it was apparently mint and had a full BMW service history.

Even I wouldn't go there. Looks like a cross between a leather bag and skeletor.

Spoken to her a few times about it. She is nice enough but I think a load of offers have made her think she has something very special/probably thinks they are offering well below it's actual value.

To be fair, I have seen far worse cars saved on here and the rot seems limited to scuttle are. Jacking points were all intact, rear arches original and better than 95% of the zones, no roof rot. It has potential as long as there are no nasties lurking elsewhere.

Just spotted this for the first time, great thread mate, mine's gonna look like shite compared to this lol.

As for value thats hard cos its basically a really really reallt clean rolling shell with an m3 kit, albeit to a very high standard.

Some might say 1500 quid, to others maybe 3 or 4 grand???? Depends on who'd looking really.

By the way, i gotta replace the rear panel on my facelift fake m3 and there's an early rear panel on ebay at the moment, is it worth doing?

first off, thanks mate, don't be defeated before you start, iv never done any of this before, my only advice is don't be in a rush and have patience. iv basicly been making this up as I go along. and I think your right about the value, think it stands me at £2000-£2500 so far, but that doesn't mean anything lol.

as for the rear panel, I wouldn't like to say... you can see the butchery I went through, it looks worse before it looks better. just remember the rear lights are a different size completely, think in an ideal world, you start off with a pre facelift car if its possible. are you doing a thread like this one? id love to watch you build it :D

a decent weight now the engines in, but I don't think scrap value is paying much at the moment!

Well i'm very hands on, i'm a mechanic for starters lol. But i've bought a part complete one. V8 converted with m3 fibreglass kit. However i have bearly dared to look behind the rear arches yet, there's lots of expanding foam and holes by the look of it lol. It'll get there tho.

Dunno about you but i've got that picture perfect end product in my head and it'll be awesome. Only 4 grand and a thousand man hours to go!!!

Epic project!
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

The finish and fit lines look really good dude,

Suggest you go for a front bonded screen for aesthetics and shell rigidity,

Keep up the good work, you're almost there!
