1991 BMW E30 318i Neon Design Convertible (Sold)
1990 BMW E30 325i Touring (Sold)
1990 BMW E30 318IS (Sold)
1990 BMW E30 316i (RIP)
You said it was quicker than your Sport, but then the engine is probably as fooked as the floor with that turdMeatballs82 wrote:Its not that quick Rob, but must feel like lightning if your daily drive has been a sheep for 18 monthscapri_rob wrote:Nice work Jim - you'll have to let me have a go when I see you - I don't think mines very quick but I have no recent E30 point of reference![]()

Had a little play around this afternoon
Switched the drivers side light as it was a bullseye and rubbish, put a smilie in there and changed the headlight rings to some diy black ones. Switched the front and side indicators to OEM ones too as I hate smoked ones. Bodged the front grills to look black too with literally wiping them down and spraying satin black straight on
Before

After

Switched the passenger side wing too as it was rotten and missing some SE trim, nicked some off a red breaker and bodge that to be black too for now... Need to take them off and fit them properly too as they are bodge on with twigs and chewing gum at the minute
Before

After

Upgraded the interior too the other day
Pilledged the handbrake grip & wheel from the 320i and the tech 1 gear knob from the 323i, need to find out the leather handbrake gaitor still
Before

After

Also, need to figure out why the speedo isnt lighting up one side...

I sorted the fuel guage and temp as they were reading wrong too... Well, I think I have but i'll find out tomorrow when I use the car and see if the guages move.
Anyone got an idea why one side of the cluster is lighting up and not the other? Checked the fuses and they all look a-ok
The bulb? If not just swap the clocks with some more 6 pot ones mate you must have a few you can use and it's not like the car is a low mileage one owner etc etc
You got plans to do anything else mate?

How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Might be the bulb
I'll have a check tomorrow.
No other plans really Ferg, might try and find a passenger side front and rear door in black as these ones are scabby. I might also clean up the rear arch a bit and rattle can it back just to tidy it up.
Do need to sort the gear stick out though as its loose as hell when in gear, but its just gonna need tightening up.
@Jonny - I'll take it if your donating mate
Not looking at spending money on the thing though, just a run about

Polished the turd

Looks nice in the pictures
Still a bit rough round the edges
Gonna clean up a few of the scabby arches and doors when its sunny again, literally a rub back, treat, prime and rattle can.
Gearbox was playing up last week. Need to replace or refresh the selector and figure out where the clutch fluid is leaking out. Other than that, it drinks the fuel like a barstood

Thought I would update on not a lot
Sorted loads of little issues out and replaced various bits of trim, starting to look like a fairly nice rotten turd now!
I need to grab some rattle cans and grind back and rotten bits and give them a lick of paint.
Also got a driver seat replacement now, although thinking I might dye all the leatherz, they are only comforts but a nice freshish interior would look cool, need to decide what colour though. Ill dye the carpet black and switch the door cards to black ones too, so I was thinking a nice red or brown
Need to also get the correct tyre size on the front as I'm not looking the stretched look of 205/50/15 on the bbs
