A while back on this forum I was told that I can bypas the DME relay by removing it and running some wire between two pins(17 and 39?). Are these pins on diagnostic plug? It is an 84 323i and I think the DCE relay is one of the 3 located on the passenger side of the engine bay up on the wheel well. I think the engine may be cutting out due to a dodgy DME. It seems to be worse on corners, which doesn't make sense to me.

is it possible to use a multimeter instead of a test globe when checking connections? Is so do I take a current or voltage measure?
