As above does anybody do this in West London area. Looking to get some work done in the summer.

Also was thinking once the engine is out I would like to get some holes and stuff welded up, want to goo for a clean look. sort of like a shaved engine bay.

I know someone on here has Soda Blasted the engine ancillaries like pumps and alternators and some other stuff.

Question is does it last because its naked metal, should it not be sealed or protected with something like a heat proof lacquer or paint?

Any Help Appreciated

I see so it uses water to shine it off in a way, or to give that satin finish, but is it not exposed metal then? like if the rocker cover or intake manifolds were to be done, would they not change colour over time??

I can understand there are many ways of getting it cleaned by using various methods of blasting but what about keeping it that way??

For shot blasting I used a place up near Hemel. I was living in Kentish Town at the time, it wasn't too much of a punt. I paid £50 cash for a subframe to be dipped, shot blasted then powder coated. The more items you get done the cheaper it works out. Was pleased with the job.

They do other processes there.

With vapour blasting it stays they way it's finished.

There's a guy towards uxbridge who does it. I'll find his number

Conveniently he's next to a powder coating place

That info would be a good addition to the WiKi with added reviews on the service as it would help other members out.
Yeah this should be added on the wiki under Engine section or something, once a few companies have been located in London, have their website contact info and types of blasting they do.

Would be real handy for resto's especially the deep strip out repaint ones, might as well since its not that expensive.

Using ACF-50 which is a Anti-Corrosion Formula, help to keep these parts clean after being Vapour Blasted.

It is an ultra Thin Fluid Film Compound (TFFC) that actively treats metal using advanced polar bonding technology. ACF-50’s synthetic inhibitors and active chemistry penetrates through oxide deposits (white powder) to the base of the corrosion cell where it emulsifies, encapsulates and then lifts moisture (the electrolyte of a corrosion cell) away from the metal surface. ACF-50 then allows the moisture to evaporate while providing an atmospheric barrier that prevents further moisture contact. With the electrolyte removed the corrosion process is halted. ACF-50 actively penetrates and creeps into the tightest seams, joints micro cracks and around screw heads, displacing moisture and other corrosive fluids in these corrosion prone areas. ACF-50’s thin film acts like an off-switch for corrosion.

^ copied and pasted from this link, worth a look, do not know how well it works in terms of longevity
