got a normal 325 getrag 260 gearbox its leaking at the back of the housing, where it connects to the prop, is there anything i can do with it in situ?

im weighing up my options, as it looks like its been leaking for some time and now theres a rattle from the box, so needs seeing to fairly quick...

That's the one. A pain to do with the box in situ, but a hell of a lot easier than doing the main output seal.

Part #14 here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... g=25&fg=05 is the main cause of sloppiness in the gear change linkage, and has to be removed to change the oil seal, so a good idea to change it at the same time if it's worn.
Later ones are modified (wider bush), so a new #11 may be needed as well.
