I took my car off the road about 18 months ago to have some work done to it. It spent a lot of that time on axle stands. Now that I've refitted the wheels etc it seems to sit a lot higher on the rear. Has anyone come across this before! Or know what it could be?
Thanks

How long has it been back on the wheels. It will take a while to settle, also was anything changed during the resto work, like bushes, spring pads etc?

No, no suspension component was changed. That's what is bugging me. It been on its wheels for a while now, but not been driven. Not sure if that'd make much odds?

It will definitely settle when you drive it.

it'll need to be rolled far enough for the wheels to do a few revolutions so the tyres arent holding the postion they were lowered to the ground in.
cars always sit funny after theyve been jacked up until theyve been moved around a bit.

Nothings has happened to the springs at all.
When you lift the car, the camber of the wheels change and they try to "tuck under" the car slightly. When the car is lowered, it sits on this different camber, as the tires don't slide across the floor to assume the correct camber. This will however level its self out as you roll the car and the sideload is gradually reduced as the ride height settles down to its regular height. You can do this either by driving it a few yards, or rocking it back and forth a foot or so at a time (easier to do with very light cars admittedly).

I should have stated that I have moved the car. Probably done about 1/4 of a mile just to get the engine ticking over after not being started for so long. So could this be just needs a lot of driving(few hundred miles) like new suspension? Or does it seem like something is amiss?
