The sport has been off the road for about 3 years due to head gasket failure, I pulled the head around that time and got it skimmed, and started to rebuild it and lap the valves seats in. Then 2 baby's arrived a year apart and things got put on hold.

But tonight, after a few hours here and there during the weeks, she fired up! I wasn't quite jumping around, but I gave it a few blasts on the horn to tell the neighbours! Lol

It was a great sound to hear her fire up after all this time!

I watched as the temp needle was flicking about a bit and see it creep up to 3/4 and started to panick, but I bleed the system with the heaters on full heat, and it stayed around the half way mark and topped it up a little as a bit of water was lost bleeding it. Where do other people's temp needle lay? I'm sure it used to be on the 1/4 mark. There also didn't seem to have pressure in the expansion tank, I could just open the cap when the engine was hot?

I had adjusted the tappets and had the injectors cleaned but it still sounds rather tappy?

It's a start, and I have a long way to go for a resto to bring her back to her former glory, I have bought a new rear quarter from Germany, rear arch repair panel, 2nd hand front wings, Beadymatt has 2 cills at his place I bought off of him, will be buying 2 new inner arches, and hopefully a leather re-trim later on. I will start a new resto thread when the work begins :D

it is a good feeling indeed ,i bought mine a few months back it had been stood in a container for ten years ,the motor wouldn't fire so i bought another with the intention or rebuilding the original as a turbo fitted the other that had no compression after i tried to spin it over,so put the origional back in with a new set of injectors it fired straight up ,that was a few weeks ago i had some other bits to do before it would move but on Saturday night i took it for a little blast down my street and the feeling was good
