New to this forum guys so hi.. Had a 325 E30 about 15 yrs ago now and am thinking of picking up another E30 now (doesn't have to be a 6cyl but prefered).

I'm surprised at the different prices people want, some too cheap and some too expensive 8O

So what will a grand buy me these days?

Usage will be daily school run & commute to train station (5 miles a day) and the odd show throughout the year..

If anyone is after a Civic Type R i'm selling

Cheers guys.. JD

Best bet is to trawl through the For Sale ads on here. Everywhere else is too busy ripping people off by either touting clean saloons as "rising classics" and asking 5k for a 1.8, or bargain basement "sports" held together with P40 and gaffer tape.

The most important factor is rust. If a seller says there's no rust, he's a lying scumbag. But at least the cars for sale on the Zone will be known to a few people, so you'll be able to find out what the issues are very quickly. ALWAYS buy on body rather than mechanical condition.

Have a read of the buying guide too:

I bought a 325i Touring in the summer for £1100.

Not much spec. Electric front windows and sunroof, comfort cloth interior with 109'000 on the clock. Although I haven't gone for a proper rot hunt most of the usual places 'seem' fine. With the occasional scab here and there. The engine is a bit tappy which I'm hoping is the valves as opposed to an manifold stud but other than that sounds solid and pulls well. Most of the bushes are looking tired as would most in car of that an age if they're original. But all in all I'm pleased for the cash I payed.

As already said above good to buy on here if you can. They're honestly priced, if not people let the seller know if they're taking the pi$$.

No mentioon of tax or MOT - crap ad, I would suspect a mature owner. Better than a lot of the sh*tters advertised for less then a grand on here:

I bought my 325i tourer for £275 with a tech 2 wheel one small patch of welding and a second hand steering rack later and iv run it for nearly 12 months with no issues iv even done recovery work in the snow winkeye
So you can get a cheap bargain which will run for a long time and you can spend well over a £1000 and still get a shiter its all about luck really and knowing what your looking at
