Very desirable. As mentioned, Italy and Portugal imposed punitive taxation on engines above two litre at the time, which made the M3 financially unattractive in those markets. BMW responded by downsizing the engine capacity and launching the car in a regular 2 or 4 door E30 shell as the 320iS.
The ad is ok; English obviously isn't his first language but he's done a decent job of explaining the condition. Price is attractive too..

Yes, but Italy is a long way away. Not from Malta though.. ;)bab-91 wrote:Tempted?
A 2 door 320iS came up a few years ago in, of all places, a crummy dealer operating out of a unit in Larne. It was advertised at £2,950 and I thought it probably had massive issues. But in retrospect, the guy may only have had a vague idea of what it was and just added 500 quid to the price of a decent Sport at the time. I'll never know now..

It's not an M3, it's not the same engine as an M3. Similar delusion to M42 owners.

There are so many things wrong with this statement I don't know where to begin..Rosc0PColtrane wrote:Similar delusion to M42 owners.
It is powered by a 1990cc version of the four-cylinder S14 engine developed by BMW Motorsport for the E30 M3 and also shares its close-ratio Getrag gearbox with the M3. However, all other components are standard 3 Series items.

The same engine as used in lots of e30 m3 touring cars when the two litre super touring class was introduced.Rosc0PColtrane wrote:It's not an M3, it's not the same engine as an M3. Similar delusion to M42 owners.
Looks a decent advert to me, and nice price too. Shame it's got two too many doors for me.
cheers,

There are quite a few 4 doors, but very rare to see a four door with the mtech kit. Usually the two doors are tec2 and the four doors are kit less.

I've been keeping a watch on Portuguese sites over the last few years and 4 doors come up quite often, usual price is 7-8 k €, so this one seems about right if a touch high with current fx rates.
These are sensations as hard to forget as they are to ignore.....

I'm a sucker for a sleeper, this one is possibly one of the best that I've seen in terms of an E30. I reckon it's embarrased quite a few people at the old traffic light GP
