if you had a whole complete rear subframe dropped out of a tech 2, will that go straight in to a tech 1 and be the same ?

Im sure it will bolt up fine, don't know if the tail pipes will come out exactly bang on. Some one on here must have done this before and know.

I do believe there are differences in down pipes between early and late cars, maybe wrong.

Oh yes pre facelift and face lift are different two peice v 3peice systems, but a complete 2 piece will fit a car that had a comlpete 3 peice and vice versa, but im not sure about exactly where the tail pipes exit if there identical or not!

I'm on with this little problem today!ajay wrote:Oh yes pre facelift and face lift are different two peice v 3peice systems, but a complete 2 piece will fit a car that had a comlpete 3 peice and vice versa, but im not sure about exactly where the tail pipes exit if there identical or not!
I have a three piece stainless system (pre face lift) that i'm fitting to my Tech II
The rear box fits up fine and the tail pipes look even out of the rear panel although they are at an angle. I need to put the bumper back on but it all looks good.
I've had a fooking nightmare trying to sort the fannymould out.
The stud pattern is about 5mm different between the pre face lift /facelift cars. (why change it I have no idea!)
I cant find a good pre facelift manni which leaves me the only option of modding the down pipe to fit.
I'm going to try and plug weld the holes in the flange and then re drill the holes to match the facelift stud pattern.
PITA

I can't find a good pre facelift manni. I also paid to have the facelift manni faced for a nice fit so i'm already half way along the facelift road.
There is literally only 5mm difference between centres on the studs. I could open up the holes but that's a bit of a bodge plus it will weaken the flange.
Personally I love a meaty flange.
