There's a guy on here selling some XYZ 330mm discs with 4 pot calipers (Duckmann from denmark is his name) and i just wondered if anyone has had any experience of these brakes before.

I found a new set on ebay retailing at £950 for the same set up but i've not heard much about them before.

Cheers people

They have been available now for a few years, some uk aftermarket/performance suppliers can get them for you at about the price advertised on ebay. The advertised price £650 is reasonable for a bolt on kit at 330mm, any equivalent will be about 1k ish. They are not on a par with the likes of AP racing but then your not paying AP prices. It realy depends what your using them for i would imagine fast road/odd track day would be ok, if on the other hand you intend to use them for serious competition/racing they might not live up to your expectations. There are calipers (im not saying this is the case with these at all) that are mass produced in the far east and a company can then have their logo attached and away they go, in that senario getting spares etc may be a bit more of a pain. Also top calipers(AP racing and other top brands) ensure their product has maximum structural rigidity in all conditions (hard use). Calipers like those advertised are not as good in comparison, but again depending on use you may not need them to be. A smaller quality brake kit (wms, willwood etc) would probrably fair just as good to be honest. In the end you get what you pay for. Im no expert by the way and all the above are IMO only.

Well i was using wilwood brakes on my last e30, 310mm discs with 4 pot calipers.

I'm out at the 'ring 3 times a year giving it death and i never once had a problem with the wilwoods. They were 850 new.

Would you say that the XYZ brakes are up to wilwood quality?

Iv'e not used either so i can't say,but if the wilwoods meet your requirements and are tried n tested then you have to decide if the xyz are worth the risk. Also do the wilwoods come with the braided front hoses, the ones in the for sale don't mention them or what sort of clearance/offset 17" wheels will be required for clearance. You should have an idea with the wilwoods though.
