Are track rod inners the same both sides?
CPL only list a right hand side.
I think the left and right are only different on racks with a dampner fitted.

I've just spoken to ECP and the inner rod on their website is coming up for non powered steering only, does anyone know the best place to get OEM quality inners as I've already got new Lemforder outers.

Odd, that part number comes up as not fitting my 1989 325i but 605110115 does, these are £31.80, the only difference I can see is the inner knuckle has a small rubber boot.Meatballs82 wrote:You need 2 of part number 605110105 - £25.95 each plus vat in Lemforder

Matt, I've already gone and purchased the lemforder outers, is there an inner rod I can get on its own, I can only see OCAP and I'm not sure of their quality.

We don't have the Ocap in stock after just checking, best thing to do is return the outers to your local branch and buy the complete assy if you're in a rush mate

Make sure you get a new locking washer for each side as well mate. Unlikely you'll remove the old one without damaging it too much.G-Bear wrote: Got an E46 067 rack waiting in the loft. Just wanted to get all new bushes before it went on... These shall get the ball rolling for my parts collect

Do E46 racks have a washer? It doesn't show them on RealOEM.Kedge wrote:Make sure you get a new locking washer for each side as well mate. Another trip to the dealers!
I don't think leaving them out is a good idea.

I think the question was if the washers are needed on an E46 rack.scott180gtb wrote:The assembly I just bought from ECP have no washers fitted.ajay wrote:From memory no, i had the washers ready when i fitted my rack but found i could not use them. 'Washer' is a locking device to prevent the inner tie rod from unscrewing from the rack, perhaps when turning the inner to adjust tracking.I found them impossible to fit due to the lip on the washer fouling my big spanner,so I used thread lock instead.

My Lemforder trackrods arrived yesterday. I found the ball joints on both trackrod ends moved with not much force. Is that normal they're certainly not loose but I expected them to be a bit stiffer.
I put new track rod ends on another E30 a year back and although I don't remember checking, I'm sure they were stiffer.

When they first come out the box they should be nice a stiff, but you do get the odd one thats loose. Could be a return? As long as it doesn't look like it's been on the car it should be alright.

I thought that could be the case but they both seemed the same. Perhaps a dodgey batch.

Mine arrived yesterday, I've just checked them, all joints seem fine, just smooth and precise, but they do move with a little bit of force, so much better than the E46 10 year old items I've taken off the rack.
