H26 conversion by Hartage ( Birds Uk)

So its approx 190bhp, sorry guys I was told when I got the car on boxing day it had a 2.7 conversion.

But it hasn't!

Im not too bothered as didn't really want it for the conversion, I just wanted an E30.!

Sorry to mislead you all!

H26 conversion is excellent. You should be very happy as it really adds alot of value to your E30.

cosworth only cast the heads after vaux fucked up and made the first batch more porous than a sponge, was still a vaux design though

Dont redtop engines have issues with oil ways in the head cracking?

it was the early vaux built heads had porousity issues, so the oil leaked into the coolant making a curry mix in the expansion tank, coscast heads( the ones cosworth did for vaux were free of this issue)

Hmm, redtops are good if you ask me. My mate has a redtop nova. Completely standard white mk1 sr even has 1.3sr badges on it but it has a tuned redtop in it and it really is FAST!

Yeah the casting was too thin where the oilways and head stud holes intersected. Thus when the head was torqued down after a headgasket change, they were done too tight and were crushed.

the 1st batch of xe heads were coscast ones... then to save money vaux did their own casting which sometimes has issues..

Yeah, the early ones were coscast because i have a 93 calibra redtop that went porous (prob one of the last ones with that engine).

Cost a bomb to have it sorted (only cos i didn't really know any better and took it to Regal (robbing bastards!!!!!!!!)).
When it's upside down and burning, you've gone too FAST!!!

Heads were originally designed by cosworth, and then coscast made them, then vauxhall took over and had the problems.

It was a cosworth design NOT a vuaxhall one though.
