Hi people... has anyone had rust around where the fuel filler pipe is in the boot. It's a panel that is located behind the carpet/plastic panneling in the boot. Mine is rusted away bur i read in a book that it is a bolt on pannel available from bmw ? has anyone had the same problem or even fitted one ?

I would say most people have or have had rust in this panel, although some of them might not know it.
Under the rear right arch is, im my opinion, the most common place for rust on an E30.
The reason is the presence of several not undersealed brackets, and the silly half liner that acts more as a mud trao than a protector.
Not a bolt on panel though - get in there with the MIG.

Yup, id say this was the most common place for rust on an e30 aswel. I always check the boot when Im buying one. Luckily the car i have at the moment has absolutely none but my last two were not good for this. One of them the fuel filler neck even leaked! Dunno why but they always semm to go in that place if they go anywhere. Also remember doing a burnout and the whole interior filled with smoke because of the holes in the arch!
Hopefully the rust days are over for me though.
