Doing floor repairs, so I have the carpet out. In the rear footwell the metal bungs are rotten, unsurprisingly, but in the front footwells I have three circular holes, 40mm across, and one of them has a plastic bung in.

I'm guessing the other two holes should have the same bungs, but I can't find them on the ETK. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Right, I've narrowed down what I mean:

Image

It's either 8 or 18 on this chart, and there's four of them in the floorpan; 2 on either side of the gearbox tunnel. There's also two small metal bungs (part 15) and two large metal plugs (part 5), but it's the plastic ones I need.

Anyone ordered these before?

I couldn't find any reference to these part numbers using search but lots of people asking, so here's the definitive answer for the archive:

If you've lifted up the carpet and found some holes in the floorpan, you'll want to replace all the covers with these part numbers:

41007140847 x 2 (metal small) part 15
41128200462 x 2 (metal large) part 5
07147140849 x 4 (plastic) part 8

you need two plastic and one small metal plug in both front footwell, and one large metal plug in the rear footwell.

KEY WORDS:

Floor pan repair hole bung plug grommet 35mm

Don't buy part 18, I made this mistake - it is a huge bung about 4' across!

If you're after the bungs related to the photo below, get part 15.

Yep, there's two types of bung/grommet in your picture:

Sorry to bump an old thread.

i have been stripping my car down and when removing the sound deadening, part number 15 came out stuck on the sounds deadening. It appeared to have been attached by pushing through the floor and then the 4 bits poking out are bent outwards to hold the part in place. However, there was also a sort of sealer present. Does anyone know what this sealer is as it was quite soft (not like seam sealer). What's the correct procedure to attach this part?

Also, I found it difficult to remove the sound deadening from the large part 5 on the drivers side so wish to buy a new one as it will look neater. I've removed the one which was there, and there's no rust or anything, but what's the correct way to put the new part back in?
Would I just wire brush the area of the floor pan clean both above and below. Then a bit of zinc spray, pop the new part in and twist, then brush some seam sealer above and below. Then paint inside and underseal the underneath? Is this correct? I wasn't sure if seam sealer should be applied above and below.

Thank you all.

Sorry, I was answering the OP.

Pretty sure seam sealer is the way to go for your question. I'd use it round the opening, then squidge the bung in, then go over it inside and out.

ok cheers.

And what's the procedure for the small bungs with the 4 little tabs on them?

What's the sealer that's used on those as it doesn't look like seam sealer.

Thanks

I'm no expert, sorry.

Have you looked through Beardymats restoration thread? I'm sure it's covered in that.
