Hi guys and gurls.
Just wondering if any of ya's can help.
My blower has stopped working in all 4 positions.
I know the first 3 are fused and 4th is hard wired to the blower it's self. Thus none of them are working. Checked fuse and checked relay. Other accessories from the fuse and relay are working ok. Just wondering if any of you's have come across this before and can help.
Thanks in advance
Matt.

its the motor/fan assembely thats fitted in the bulkhead on top of heater box, they totally seize up after a while. i need a new one in mine, i took the old one out and you can see its well knackered, the bearings have gone and the commutator and brushes are all messed up
That could be the heater resistor.stevo wrote:mines has a simmilar problem, positions 1 and 3 won't work and 2 is becoming intermitant. i was advised to get the dial checked, but still havn't got round to it

Not impossible, but not normally. If 3 is dead, and 2 still works, then the switch is the chief suspect.chu346 wrote:That could be the heater resistor.stevo wrote:mines has a simmilar problem, positions 1 and 3 won't work and 2 is becoming intermitant. i was advised to get the dial checked, but still havn't got round to it

about half an hour you should be able to remove it.
its fairly easy i've done it a few times now, all 3 e30's i've had have had
the same problem of a stiff or seized motor

Don't think aircon will affect access to the motor at all.
You realize that you get to it from the engine compartment, not under the dash, don't you?

as brian says its from the removable panel on the bulkhead and the fan fits the same on aircon models so that won't make any difference
Yeah thanks guys. How easy is that to get too!!!.
Well had a look, looks in very good condition. all blades there and intact. motor looks good. gave it a clean. cleaned electrical connx. gave moving parts little lube. crancked it up and well. All four fan speeds now work real well. Better than before. So just gonna run with it as is. If it dies again well i'll rip it out and through a new one in.
Thanks for your help guys very much appreciated.
