With the e46 067 rack being by far the most popular when deciding on up ratting your steering rack. What would a z3 2.7 turn rack in good condition complete with track rods be worth nowadays?

They are a lot more expensive due to having the lowest wheel turn ratio which sellers are well aware of. May as well save a lot of money and settle for 3.0 or 3.2 ratio.

I fitted one on my e30 a couple of years ago, it was great around town but very twichy on the motorway. Being 2.7 lock would they be any more appealing to track car owners over a 3 turn rack? As i can,t quite seen the justification of their higher value.

^^^ Yeah, Definitely ideal for track use. I just can't wait to get rid of my 1:4. It's like driving a bus when you want to turn around.

IIRC the z3 2.7 turn rack is identical ratio to the 3 turn rack, it just has lock limiters.

Mine was a recon and free :D

If that is the case then a 3 turn rack must have a better turning circle, and the 2.7 with stops would aid those with wide rims up front,ie a bit better wheel arch/arb clearance.

That is my understanding as well. I fitted one to a previous E30 and the turning circle was much worse.

Ive had E46 racks on my E30's for 5 or 6 years, I drove one with a Z3 rack last year and it felt very twitchy, id take the E46 rack every time.

I have fitted the e46 067 rack this time round (not tested yet) but have a spare z3 2.7 rack, was curious to the high price/value now associated with the 2.7.
