... Not an epic start, but its a start non the less.
I bought a 1990 Brilliant Red 318iS back in August 2008 from another Zone member. Below are some pics of it back then.

It had a few bits that needed sorting.. but nothing major. Since then unfortunately other than servicing it and replacing a couple of things I haven't done many of the repairs I had hoped for. But now the time has come.. At the moment nothing too big is planed, just to get it in a good state and then I'll make more plans as of when..
My girlfriends parents have a yard where they run a family business with a few delights.. such as this ramp so I decided to get her up on it (my car... that is) and have a look underneath, as first on my list is to update all suspension components along with all bushes..

The runs on the ramp where so wide that I couldn't really see much, so I just jacked it up and got it on stands instead.

A leak that appears to be from the diff, from peoples experience could this just be a knackered gasket on the back?

Both inner cv boots need replacing...

This bush doesn't look too bad but think it might be worth changing along with the rest..

The ARB is looking a bit weathered in places..

Brake hose needs replacing. You can see how it matches the pattern on the drive shaft...

Gave the rear underside a degrease and scrub..

Some of the muck that came off..

These are both on the replacement list..

Some rust attention in places..

Being aware of the following bits of rust, next was to strip the boot to see what else lurks..

The same applies on the other side top and bottom.

a bit more floor

This is (i think) where the hoses to the fuel expansion tank run. The rubber that houses the fuel filler neck to the bodywork has perishing away at the bottom, so I assume water has been running down from there (along with whats flicked up from the wheel) and has sat here and begun to rot. Always something minor that causes major issues.
The rest of the boot wasn't too bad. Suspension turrets where good rust wise, but revealed knackered tops mounts. I didn't have a big enough torx bit to get the bumper off to inspect the rear valance entirely but it felt soft and crunchy in places, so definitely getting a new valance on the rear.

More areas in need of attention..

Signs of a lazy blow over at some point..

Was hoping the spring pads where going to be thicker. Replaced the springs recently, now she sits a little higher that I'd like. The pads are 5mm and although I've read you can get 3mm for the rear, I can see them on the parts diagrams...
Anyway that was me done for the day....
