Lokking for a little advice on what to do with a stained and rather nasty looking headliner.I thought about masking it off and spraying it black with a fabric dye,but not sure if this will work.I've read these are an absolute pain to take out or I'd just have a new one made and replace it.I've tried all the usual fabric cleaners and nothing works

I read somewhere you had to take out the windows and all sorts. Is it a rigid headliner in the Later model E30s then ?

So,I just remove the trim, unscrew grab handles/mirror etc,and it should lift out ?
Unfortunately I do have a sunroof, but I feel a little more confident at tackling it now.Thank you

It's not just the interior fittings that keep it up. There are also a couple of clips under the raised area in the middle and some more around the tailgate hinges. Release the rear clips first (these are obvious to see) and then to release the centre clips you need to give the headling a sharp tug backwards. This is best done with 2 people.
