So, I'm a mk2 golf man and have been for a few years. I've had a few boring diesels for the past couple of years while I save money but I'm finally looking to get back into something fun! I've always had an eye for e30's and I think now is a great time for me to buy one.
Basically, if I'm going to drive something like this, I want to do it properly. I've got a budget of 4k which from my research should get me something nice.
My ideal spec would be a 325i in white but with black bumper trim, leather interior, 2 door, either no or small boot lip. I want to go for the "classic e30" look, rather than the mean m-tech 1/2 look.
So, basically my question is what would you expect for 4k? With my spec in mind, what do you think realistically I would get?
At the moment, there aren't any I've seen on Pistonheads/Ebay/here that jump out at me, so it'd be nice to be able to gauge things.
Thanks

a facelift 325i or SE is what your after, 4k would buy you a very nice one, trouble is just finding one and a nice one at that that is worthy of a 4k price tag actualy for sale, nice 2 door 325i of any sort are hard to find now so its just being patient and waiting and constantly looking, worry about a nice clean shell as opposed to it must having leather as you can source that after
had a look on piston heads myself earlier, just 20 e30s !!! they are in steady decline with people keeping hold of the nicer ones these days

Personally, I'd go for a pre-facelift. They look fantastic in a 2dr.

To answer the original question, £4k should still buy you a very nice E30 in whatever flavour you like unless it's an M3 or (probably) a sport. As polsta says, finding one is the tricky bit.

i dont think some people on here realise what prices hopefully of the nicer any e30 2 doors will rise up over the next couple of years, when they are in such decline, the difference in ones for sale now compared with even 18 months ago is amazing, they are getting hard to find, more so when you look at "asking prices" of the ones for sale out there and how many of those are actualy decent, when pretty much all have issues needing attention and think things like slight bubbling to an arch here, bit of towing eye rust there, etc etcjimbom30cab wrote:i looked on pistonhead also, there are only 5 e30s with 2 doors excluding the cabs, amazing really
maybe its where some people around on here have been in to e30s for so long and not seen amazing price rises other than m3s, but a steep upwards curve is comming, all you have to do is look at how many and what condition acre actualoy for sale...and the amount of numbers of people, even just take this small little place the e30 zone, how many people join up on here alone and post looking for an e30 ...
its a lot, there certainly isnt the supply for the demand, and theres only one way prices will go to reflect that

No hat eating for you. The first one is fantastic - Sounds well looked after, great spec, looks lovely but isn't the e30 I'm after. It looks mean as hell! Same with the second one really..Rodderz wrote:If the OP buys either of those cars, I'll eat my hat...jimbom30cab wrote:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bmw-E30-325i- ... 1c2fb8f8d0

The car I'm running at the moment is great, so I'm really in no rush to find an e30. I guess it's just going to be a case of holding out for the right one. As it won't be a sport I'm after (as I don't want the mean look + big spoiler, etc.) would it be fair to say I shouldn't expect bubbling arches, etc. for that price?

Since pistonheads started charging for advertising there has been very few E30's on there at all. When i bought mine just over 2 years ago there was always over 170 E30's for sale at any one time.
Ebay and gumtree are generally full of scrap.
