As above, finally got a new job (permanent too! :D ) at a major brake manufacturer in Motorsports.

Will mean a lot of travel, but given the high profile of the job and places I'll be visiting, it's probably going to mean retiring the BMW from front line duty.. aka probably selling it :(

Do enjoy my E30's but with this job on the horizon, within a few months I'll have to put serious consideration to getting something newer 8O

Really don't want to, but would love it to go to a loving home once time comes to sell it, I've put a lot of work in getting it mechanically sound (think a couple of major overhauls on 95% of the mechanicals / electrical systems!)

Well, at least you're selling for the best of reasons.
Are you sure there's nowhere you could store it?
Best of luck with the new job anyway :)

Mileage and nature of the job, will be working in top flight motorsports and representing a company.
Not good turning up in a 20 year old BMW that's a bit scruffy honestly :( I'd love to keep a hold of it, but no where to store it.

Brother in law works in 'top flight motorsports' (F1 and GT), and usually turns up in a multicoloured Rover 45!

Well do it up. Christ if your going to work a motorsport company surely driving one of the most iconic cars from the 80s not to mention one of the best racing base models shows you know your stuff. Give the turd a bit of a polish and have at that new job :) All the best for it!

It looks a lot less scruffy then mine so as long as you keep it clean and tidy no one will judge you 8) I'm sure there will be a few clapped out bangers that are newer then yours parked in the work car park that you'll put to shame, if you're worried about running costs consider an LPG conversion maybe.

In my experience, the people in the motor industry who drive the clapped out scruffy cars are the ones who use them as a means to an end to spend time and money on their project cars, or have some serious engine power in the crapbox. The ones in shiney new cars usually work in HR or accounting.

Of course, you do get the odd person who just drives a crapbox for the sake of it.

Apparently, they did make a few 4-door Mk1 Lotus Cortinas. I've seen some at shows, but not sure if they were the real deal or replicas.

Nice is that developing the tyres ? I would love to work in motorsport working with your passion and getting paid for it. I heard is really hard to get in and at the start the pay is not too good but do not know if that is true ?

IT's true, its very very difficult to get in, helps having a degree and spending time doing something such as Formula Student. There's some days where you'll think "Why the hell am i doing this?" but then you'll look back and think you've got a much more interesting day job than most.

Pay wise, it's difficult to start with, but once you're established, money tends to get better. It's as much what you know but also who you know as well.

Apparently not!, Phoned them today, turns out I'd been miss informed, and they're still pondering on who is getting the job, and I'd just been contacted by Mclaren
