I've just changed my interior loom for one with the wiring for electric windows.

The car is a 1986 316 and the loom was removed from an '86 325i. The new loom has this extra plug up under the fusebox area, the green/grey (or is it light blue?) wire running next to the plug in question is the wire that goes to it.

Any ideas?

Looks more like Green/Purple to me? If it is then thats the fuel pump, probably hacked into for an alarm

Sorry, should've been clearer, this is the door loom, not the one that goes to the fuel pump. Goes to both doors and the boot and fuel flap solenoid. Looks too much of a proper job for an alarm fitter.

That could explain why I've not got anything to plug it into, my car hasn't got a sunroof. Makes sense though that the sunroof could connect into this loom, the loom came out of capri_rob's old Bronzit chromie and that did have a sunroof.

Full re-wire... don't envy you there :)
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Loom swap was easy mate, only my stupidity with the boot that's thrown a spanner in the works :banghead: . The ski hatch panel will be coming out this weekend.

It's ok if your car is already stripped I guess but I have removed a couple of full uncut looms from breakers and they can take 2 days flat out to get the car in a position where you can remove it all without butchering it. I can imagine it is just a nightmare threading it all through the bodywork and "untangling" as you go!

Ironically mine needs a new body loom as the fuse box is broken but I think for the sake of things I will just live with it!

Not had to touch the fuse box for this thank fook. This loom just plugs straight into the ancillary socket. I've never taken a main loom out before, don't plan to either 8)

That explains why I was scratching my head wondering where the wires were for the cut off switch, I'd forgot about that!

Cheers Jim.

On early cars the cut off switch is above the HVAC panel I believe and not on the front console. Look on the pic dan posted on the mods thread of his 6 speed shifter there is no cut off in front of the drivers window switch, the early henna car is the same (just so you know)

I did actually think about moving mine there but then you need to find the correct front console also.
