just been to have a wheel wobble investigated on my 325 cab with 17" alpina reps on, found out 2 of each rear side wheel bolts have been sheared off in the hubs, and one each from either front side.
Wheres best place to get bolts from, will i need longer ones becauase of the alpinas and also are the rear hubs universal across E30's? She has discs on the rear(was a 318 cab originally so unsure if these were fitted std or upgraded when 325 engine put in)
many thanks in advance
Glen

I think all convertibles had rear discs.
I don't understand why you need longer than standard bolts tho. Are you using spacers? If you need standard one's GSF do them Ԛ£1.40 each.

Sounds a bit dodgy, wheel bolts can be really useful ;)
How tight did you do them up?
Did you use a torque wrench?
How much thread went into the hub?

Are these wheels locating on the hubs properly, or is all the load being taken by the bolts. I've never heard of a broken E30 wheel bolt.

i think so Brianmoooore, had front 2 balanced so no damage that could cause them not to sit right, they got spiggot rings (spacers?) on them but i been told a lot of Alpina reps need them. The lad i got it from was a right cowboy so nothing would suprise me with him

I've come across a few on a fellow zoners car, god knows how they were tightened up but 1 bolt on each front wheel sheared off on us. I couldn't even shift them with my air impact wrench (320lbft) so had to resort to a big breaker bar and an extension.
We ended up fitting 2 new wheel bearings because of this

Could be something to do with the state of the roads here in London.
There is NO nucleus.

the lad who owned it before was a bit of a crazy driver i think so she does need a bit of TLC from yours truely
could the lack of wheel bolts be the cause of wobbly steering? they cant be that bad as its been driven quite a bit and none of em have come bouncing past me, so may this lack of bolts be enough to cause it?

If some are snapped the others could now be too brittle - you should replace the whole set asap with new ones.
Use a (decent) torque wrench and tighten the new ones to 100NM.
While you do this check the hub locating ring. In other words you should be able to locate the wheel fine without the bolts - they should just hold the wheel on - not support the weight of the car....
