At the end of the day it will always command a prenium over a non sport, just make sure you buy a solid one

Not to get involved in the sport \ non sport thing. But the last genuinely mint sport I saw for sale on here was BMWE30MTECHs (I think) which he had spent years getting to that point. It struggled to sell for a good while but I think it went for around the 5K mark.
That must have been well over a year ago now though. Very few and far between mint cars ever get advertised on the zone.

Clean shells are they way forward. I've bought quite a few e30's searching for the holy grail of an original rust free e30. They are out there but the cleanest shell I found still needed the front pads doing.
Unless you pull any potential purchase to pieces you will not find all the brown stuff and even then it can still be hidden under the under seal.
Sports will always be more desirable than an SE.
I'm still undecided if I want to sell mine.

Aint you already got one, you greedy git.

Mint Sport's are out there but very few & far between.
Most low milers, few owners, full SH ones are now owned by bmw enthusiasts / collectors as invertments so will be unlikely to be seen very often other than perhaps a few shows. There will always be an odd one someone ownes or inherits that may come before the rocking horse sh1T.
These Sports ARE rot free but are not £5k...sorry fella but IF one from the above sources comes up for sale then they will be in excess of £10k I would suspect, particularly the Tech2's.
That said for one to use even in-frequently then why pay £10k++ thus the argument above for the lesser siblings carries some merit.
However if a Sport is the one for you be patient, decide exactly how you want to use & wait until the right one comes up. Everything comes to he that waits apparently......Good luck.

I've got a rot free black tech II sport auto, currently a rolling shell with every part of the car exposed and rot free, after it had a load of coin spent in the bodyshop and had both sides painted with new bmw wings. i have everything for it to put it back together except the original interior, but I've got a set of cloth recaro LS's with marching rear bench and door cards to offer instead.
Talk to me.

Nice idea to buy a good 2 door manual 325i SE instead. Are they really out there though? Not when I look, then you have all the costs of seats, LSD etc etc if you want it something like a sport. There are now far fewer E30's out there and people tend to know what they have and want to keep the good ones.
Its quite frustrating looking for a car and not finding it for sale, patience is needed!
Good luck.

I remember in 2006 I was seriously on the look out for a E30 325i with BMW Manual Gearbox. Had to be SE or Sport. Black. And Facelift. Came really close to buying a TechII Sport Black with heated seats and was going to view but it sold for £3-4k. Also I remember a Tech1 sold very quick I was interested in a guy from Scotland bought it £2.5-4k. In the end I got a E46 323Ci Coupe with BMW Manual Gearbox. In that time I was picky had to be low owners/low miles/FBMWSH/standard/Manual/Black/325i/Facelift was hard.
But I imagine to meet that criteria now would be extremely tough ....
I seen WLN advertise Sports in 2006 for £5-8k. More recently £10-15k. But if everything is as good as the advertisement and should be then they are the best of the best ....

Is a bit like saying buy a bog standard E30 M3/E46 M3 and add performance upgrades and u can make better than a fresh out of the box E30 M3 Sport Evo/E46 M3 CS or E46 M3 CSL.aze30 wrote:lol @ the sport non sport issue...sports will always have a higher coin value than non sports....its just what some people want and where the demand is, even though there are many desirable se's out there...
Like for like the halo models are that bit more desirable allowing for standardised age/mileage/owners/condition etc

Yet another thread all homo'd up in true e30zone fashion.
exactly an m3 evo2 will always be worth more than an m3 they look very similar but it will always be worth more!!pony wrote:Is a bit like saying buy a bog standard E30 M3/E46 M3 and add performance upgrades and u can make better than a fresh out of the box E30 M3 Sport Evo/E46 M3 CS or E46 M3 CSL.aze30 wrote:lol @ the sport non sport issue...sports will always have a higher coin value than non sports....its just what some people want and where the demand is, even though there are many desirable se's out there...

A 325i sport is a nice package, but everyone keeps going on about them like there an M3. I actually prefer the way a standard 2 door 325i looks and would rather have one, but good ones are just as hard to find as a sport. You never see a normal 325i in the photo gallery or one being restored, but you see plenty of sports which gets boring. Only one I can think of that stand out are Sweep's ones and Simon13's old one once it was tidied up.
I nice optioned one with sensible wheels, nice drop, and front and rear spoilers just looks perfect.

Same goes for the pre-facelift

Thing is blitz, there just arnt even any/ many nice 325i out there and all that come on sale are in need of work , just finding a nice 2 door 325i in any form normal se or sport is hard work, rusty 325i are fragged quickly and people would rather restore the sports, all 325 are nice and different flavours to suit different types styles ages of owner, that after all is what makes e30s loved across the board in the 1st place
