I'm planning on protecting all the box sections on my car. Inside sills etc. was just wondering if this was any good? It looked good for doing this because of the extension lance bit.
TIA

How does it compare to waxoyl ? Better/same ? Any reasons or facts if its better ? Also what's it like to apply ? Does it need heating up the same ?jonesy318 wrote:ive just used the dinitrol cavity wax and also the dinitrol underbody wax after finishing welding the floor and its awesome stuff, not the cheapest but defo worth it
Was going to get some rattle cans and a couple of 5l tins if clear waxoyl and an applicator to do mine

The big difference is that it is black not creamy/clear.polsta wrote:How does it compare to waxoyl ?jonesy318 wrote:ive just used the dinitrol cavity wax and also the dinitrol underbody wax after finishing welding the floor and its awesome stuff, not the cheapest but defo worth it
I think it is actually slightly better at cover and penetrating than Waxoil.

But waxoyl comes in black or clear, but inside panels and interior cavities clear would be better
How does it compare price wise ?

You need to have at look at bilthamber products they are the best on the market and beat dinitrol in all the independant tests
I have used them on several projects you cant fail to be impressed

I used the black for the underside but they do a clear version and the cavity wax i got was a brown colour. didnt really bother me as the car is a bare shell at moment so could just spray it everywhere i needed and left it to dry off. the underbody spray seems to dry a lot better and harder than previous waxoyl ive used on other cars and seems as if it will be quite hardwearing but its personall preferences aint it at end of day, only used the dinitrol cause a mate had his cortina fully treated with it a couple of years ago and is still like new underneath, any thing that helps against the dreaded tin worm cant be too bad. I put the cans in a bucket of hot water for 30 mins before attaching to the gun and spraying it, seemed to go on really well.

sounds like good stuff jonsey, wheres the best/cheapest place to buy it from ?
will be doing my car before its re built and all in the chassis and cavities and everywhere, then it will sit in a garage for a couple of months to really cure without any use/exposure whilst everything is done
when my mate did his cosworth as i sat watching with a cuppa , he used the big tin of waxoyl and the applicator, with the tin stood in front of a heater and kept rotating it until it was warm and then used it, and used an air line aswell to blow it right along, then put more in etc etc to get it right in all the corners and right along the sills and chassis, wel be doing it there with the same method and a ramp

Reminds me of a hilarious story I read in an old classic car mag, where some guy had bought a brand new Cortina MkII and decided to jack it up and pump the sills full of used engine oil to stop rust. He pumped gallons of the stuff in on both sides, then opened the door only to see the carpets inches deep in the oil!jonesy318 wrote:I used the black for the underside but they do a clear version and the cavity wax i got was a brown colour. didnt really bother me as the car is a bare shell at moment so could just spray it everywhere i needed and left it to dry off. the underbody spray seems to dry a lot better and harder than previous waxoyl ive used on other cars and seems as if it will be quite hardwearing but its personall preferences aint it at end of day, only used the dinitrol cause a mate had his cortina fully treated with it a couple of years ago and is still like new underneath, any thing that helps against the dreaded tin worm cant be too bad. You'll only really know which product is the best in twenty years time!
For places inside cavities where the gap gets very small, warm the area from the outside with a heat gun, to get the wax to run right down into the corners.

The high temperature one for engines looks like a good idea.
This is the 3M Cavity wax I use, its not that expensive and is designed for Marine use.

When I bought my car it had a small rust spot near the scuttle. I took the grill off and sprayed the clear Cavity wax in to the corners, 11 years later the rust is exactly the same the day I bought the car.

3M make some of the best products in the industry, how ever the cans are only 500ml where as the Bilt Hammer are 750ml. So they are roughly the same price per ml.
